2014 6 Nations: France vs Ireland (Round 5)

I know Stephen Ferris...

Here, I made a compilation video for the theme "France's missed chances" from Saturday:

Some are just missed chances from individualities, others are symptomatic of France's ability to create opportunities fairly easily and then something is bound to go wrong. They absolutely, absolutely should have scored a couple more (Bastareaud break and last play Papé fkup), and one could debate they had real chances for another.
Enjoy.

Ok Frenchfan we get it, you think the top14 is the best thing ever. You're getting quite tedious now though...

Gee not bad from Bastareau I mean for a guy who is supposedly so unfit

just heard that Ferris is the best No6 in the NH. He should be in the Top 14 then. Only a matter of time mind you.

Best ball carrying 6*, just depends what game plan you're playing / what you want out of your 6.
Btw when I mean substance I don't mean trophies, I mean club culture, relationship with fans etc

Edit: He won't leave a team that's helped him recover from 15 months of injury.

going to toulon yeah ?

Hope not for his sake. He might just warm the bench all season. He is welcome in Toulouse (not sure if Noves knows he is the best No6 in NH yet). Of course Clermont SF Montpellier etc could all poach him.

i think ferris will be good for Clermont think there is hard competition in toulouse for him with Dusautoir, Nyanga and Picamoles

Just seen parts of the game and I have a few points
-How was Healy not sent off ?
- Basteraud did not seem to have as good a game as the comments made out. He made a few good breaks then launched the ball forward I don't see how people said he had a great game ? And this is coming from a Basteraud fan.

Is the sighting commissioner even coming after Healy actually? Not a chance it was a red and if it wasn't Healy people wouldn't be calling for it.

No I genuinely thought it was a red, no matter who the player is. He looked up at Picamoles and used a similar rucking technique to the picture shown below2922521851a2932943701b777438837l.jpg

Healy appears to be immune to cards (his complete 'heads gone' moment vs england last year springs to mind). (Oh, and the 'sighting commissioner' is busy working at specsavers )

Not at all blind, France lost because they did not play well enough and one reason was the attack it had no forward momentum from 10, Tales never once broke the gain line, Machenaud was to blame for his defence on one try i never said i disliked these players there are just better available than these two. Yes i agree they played better against Ireland but it was not good, what i do not understand is everyone is cock a hoop because we lost by a couple of points and not by 20, Kockott does not come into the factor as he can't play for France at the moment so why mention him and the many others like who!!!!! there is only Parra at the moment who deserves his place!!!!
Read Galthie's comments in todays Equipe or is he blind as well!!!!! you would not say that to some one like Galthie that i'm sure, if you want to make your own assumptions thats fare enough, but everybody has a point of view which should be respected even though you may not agree, so keep you extremely arsy comments to your self in future. if you have come onto this forum to abuse other people maybe its time to have a long look in the mirror sunshine.

Funny man you are... But most of "specialists" hear on C+, on L'equipe 21, and on many other channels or newspapers have said Machenaud did it great and some even says we have lost because Doussain replaced Machenaud... Galthié is truly "isolé" in his comments... and abvout your last lines of your comment, you know where you can put them... I haven't lesson to receive from you... and about "arse" you know something. ;)

That specific sort of smiley there makes it difficult for me to interpret whether you're insulting me or the man who commissions sightings...

Saffycen, usually players look before hitting the ruck, just saying! A penalty? Yeah. A yellow? Possibly. A red? No way.

I second that. Talès was definitely more accurate than poor young Plisson (to whom we really didn't do a favor by including him this year...), except towards the end. And Machenaud was just flat-out very good.

About this game for France:
- it should be noted Lapandry is now an absolute prospect for France, even more, in the 7 shirt. He made all 11 tackles, no miss, played ball in hand too (beat 1 defender) and was worthy at the breakdown, no easy task against an Irish team that came for a ***le. He was very good against Scotland too.
- Chouly was surprisingly good: he was making meters with each impact, very good in the lineouts (5/5 won), strong tackler too (11/11) and even made 35meters (not his job).

We have tremendous depth in the third row after all, with guys who can really match test level Rugby; despite our lack of pure mass and power every other good team has there: Sean O'Brien, O'Mahony, the Boks, Welsh backrow, England backrow...

Totally agree with that. Chouly has truly surprised, and I (as many) didn't expect he could have done it that great. About Lapandry, I am not that surprised and I would like to see him on a long period.

About Plisson, I find you a bit severe, not on the analysis about his match, but I think it was normal to let him chances. When he has been chosen, he was one of the principal reason of SF success. The choice of Plisson was logic if we considere that PSA didn't want to call FTD and that Talès wasn't available for the first matches.

About English backrow, it's now few years we have seen great improvements and will in this sector. I find the English game awesome (yes I did say that ! lol). English have a Young teams and I think after few tests and next 6N, they will earn experience... so we could well see a favourite for the next RWC and more, they will play at home... But I won't erase Ireland, even if BOD won't be there anymore, they have few youngs which can replace him and he isn't Ireland himself alone...

Yeah they look at them but just from what I see he targets the head not the chest which you normally try and ruck, look he thought his team was going to concede a try so launch yourself head first into the most dangerous ball carrier. I just find it weird that walsh didn't go to the TMO when he saw the player down holding his head, and being French they must have surely been crying for it :)

:p I'm not saying that, I'm just answering you as you say we didn't have more injuries than usual. Yes we did, and it's greatly problematic and in fact a sample of things to come as our players continue to play 40 games a season. We'll be constantly undermanned if this goes on uninterrupted.

It should be noted that some guys really stepped up in the absence of our starters:
Bastareaud BIG TIME.
Lapandry was impressive.
Chouly.
Machenaud.
Szar.

Wow you said Machenaud really stepped up ? you will be Under Gaston fires ! lol
