[2015 RWC] Pool A: England vs. Wales (26/09/2015)

Burgess did nothing to show he is ready for international Union and should not play in the remaining few games England have left! He is a proven failure........

Tony, England were winning when they dragged Burgess.
Then they lost.
Barritt was left calling the shots in the English midfield, never a good situation. It was Barrettes stupid call that made for a rush defence where Watson was nowhere to be seen creating an overlap for Wales.
There's the game...

ExactLy the type that will be wearing the British lions 10 jersey pal

This defeat will never be forgotten, it's akin to the origin of the Ashes in cricket. The best Welsh players injured, half a team out, England on home turf, Gatland telling the England players what they would do to them...I'm still shaking my head, I've watched England international RU since the days of Dusty Hare and I can honestly say that I have never been so embarrassed to be an England fan.

The only good thing that should come from this defeat is that we get rid of Lancaster who will go down as the worst England coach ever, uninspirational, characterless, boring, turgid and out of his depth, just ask any ex WC winner. If it takes a smashing from Oz to get rid of Lancaster then so be it, we are going no further in our home WC...it couldn't be any worse. My only consolation will be watching the taffs get a smashing as soon as they progress from the league at our expense.

Yeah yeah let's blame the ref he had given nothing to England the whole game

All I can say is **** just got real in the Australia v England match. F#ck I hope we win this even more than before now.

Still bloody angry I've been a Lancaster apologist for a long time. I can't belive I've gone from smugish/arrogant about our chances on Tuesday to really questioning our selection to this....

At one point today before the match I wondered if this was the first England team I wanted to loose. And you know what I didn't this feels like **** and I feel worse than after the SA game 1999 and I thought for a very long time that was how bad being an England fan could be in Rugby. Well thank you Mr. Lancaster you've done far worse. Because while 14 year old me could see a future with Woodward, 30 year old me can't see one with Lancaster.

Now stop your bleating ya bloody pooftah.
Lancaster picked the right team and he WAS winning quite well with 10 minutes to go.
His only real mistake came from the area of substitution where he seemed to be instituting a premeditated plan instead of reading the game.
Burgess should NEVER have been dragged.
England were winning and he had boatloads of tackling left in him.
Around the time Burgess left the game Toby Faletau came out of sleeping mode from the previous 55 minutes and started to come to life carrying the ball brilliantly in several attacking phases.
What was Robshaw thinking letting George Ford call the shots on kicking for touch instead of getting the three points for the draw for a penalty kick on the 22 line.?
Robshaw should be punching himself in the face really hard right now beating himself up for listening to underlings instead of demanding the three pointer from deadeye Farrell.
Walk off with a draw and a lot less injuries than Wales and a much greater chance of safety through to the quarters but no... a gutless lack of self belief and leadership when the decision to kick for goal SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE ONLY OPTION ON HIS MIND.
This was not a high school game, this was for keeps in the RWC.
What a shocking drongo.

It will be a non contest.

Not a chance England will beat Australia.

This group is not over with.
Never underestimate Wales ability to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory.

It's beed said already, but worth saying again, England are far from out of this RWC.

Sure they are playing poorly, but the international game is really close right now and it may not take that much to right the ship. Beat OZ and they are through. I wouldn't right off Fiji against Wales either, which could even mean Eng may go through with 2 losses.

Don't give up - Come finals time, it is anyones cup!

Your boys will be playing for their lives at home. Pretty sure it'll be a contest - and likely a very intense one at that.

I honestly don't know what to expect from us. The Wallabies were a very hard read in the RC - losing the first hour of every match before winning the last 20 mins in each match, and then going to NZ and getting thumped.

We're the France of the Southern Hemisphere right now - we could be awesome or get beat by 30 lol.

I also think the level of hate Wales have for England can't be underestimated. That is a huge factor in games like these

My team for aus;

Mako
Youngs
Cole
Parling
Launchbury
Ewers
Kvesic
Vunipola
Youngs
Farrell
May
Slade
Joseph
Watson
Brown

Hartley
Marler
Brookes
Lawes
Morgan
Care
Cipriani
Nowell

How I can hope ha.

True but part of me wants this to be proven the shambles it is. I hate conservative rugby and we tried to fight Warren all with Warren all today and got found wanting today.

I think I counted a mere three line breaks today that got me shouting for England and that just feels wrong. Everything that was going right in the 6 nations just seams to have been forgotten. Let's remember we flattened a Wales 1st choice at their home 6 months ago now we've lost to an injury ravaged version of that side at our home in RWC. Something has truly gone wrong and the management need to own up that.

Jeez that was quite an epic choke in the end, England looked pretty comfortable at half time and had the superior scrum but fell off the pace big time in the second half. Well done Wales!! Picked up their game big time and showed huge guts with all their injuries etc

Dumb decision to go for the try at the very end, always take the points on offer in that situation.

Australia can barely manage four phases without a knock-on in a no pressure game. I don't think it'll be as clear cut as you make it.

Mate, what planet are you from? It was unanimously agreed by many esteemed ex pros that the loser of tonight's game was toast. England were so pathetic that it was painful to watch. We were smashed in the second half, just as Gatland predicted, and deserved to lose...to a half baked welsh team!!

Oz will smash England to pieces, they will relish in the fact that they have knocked England out of the WC on their home turf and I hope they do because then lancaster will have to go...that is our consolation prize, getting rid of the worst English coach ever. It's over for England, the team are like the rest of the country...a pathetic shadow of what we once were.

Any England team without Burgess in the midfield will lose against Aussie.
England were winning when they subbed the monster tackling machine for a broomstick handle in Ford.
If Burgess had have been on the field he wouldn't have been encouraging Robshaw to go for touch, then it would have been a draw.

I wouldn't say England are toast yet, but they have to play out of their skins to beat Australia who have looked a good team this year, even beating NZ. Obviously if they lose to Australia they are done and I would be betting heavily on Australia myself :)

Yeah fair enough mate. I can sympathise with that. One issue can sometimes be that emotions take their toll in a result like this though. I've not seen enough of England to have much of an opinion. But I've seen my fair share of AB teams getting bundled in WCs to know that anything can happen at this level of Rugby. If Eng get their sh ! t together and front against OZ, then they still have a legit chance of winning this cup.
