[2015 RWC] Pool A: England vs. Wales (26/09/2015)

Well done Wales and England you really went downhill after half time and showed a lot of arrogance to believe that you had the game won with 30 minutes to go!

I am afraid, with the Welsh lack of depth before this game and now the injuries during the game, that the only real hope for the NH in winning old Bill is Ireland with the very outside possibility that France can mount a challenge despite having the management they do and without the players they should have selected!!

There is no doubt that England blew this, the ref was not to blame and Wales stuck with it but they surely should never have won that one!!

Was it just me or did this site have problems as could not get on it............................probably just me!!

It would have been embarassing for England to kick to the posts when in the exact same situation freaking Japan went for the try against SA.

I came on here to congratulate Wales on a fantastic win, but this is the first comment I saw and had to reply.

What a ridiculous thing to say. For a start it matters not what Japan did. Second, hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I have to say I was bloody surprised at the time that England didn't kick for goal. The state of pool play for me would have been enough to decide that a draw was the right thing to aim for at that time. Anyway, silly statement IMO.

WOW, congratulations Wales what a fantastic victory. I did not see that coming after all their injuries, particularly the in game ones. Such a gritty performance, and while I only saw the second half it looked very deserved.

Cant wait of the England OZ game - has a host nation ever got bundled in pool lay before?

Lancaster placing blame on Robshaw.

Don't like that TBF in private yeh to the media no.

BRB I'm playing Robshaw as need to be loyal to captain, captain makes a bad call it's his fault.

Lancaster made a rod for his own back when he failed to play a second option @ 7.

Blames injuries when Wales were decimated.

This is very disappointing by the way, and one would think speaks volumes about the state of the England team. What was said exactly?

Any update on the extent of Wales injuries now?

And it was a terrible call.

As a big Barritt supporter, I have to agree it was a terrible call and they could just have pushed across to the touch line but Watson showed his naivety by going inside (where there was cover) and not staying on his winger (where there was none)!

I still think the group is in the balance. Wales are now totally ravaged with injury. What are we going to do at fullback and center? England can still beat the Aussies and potentially set up a mouthwatering finale to the group.

Either way Oz know they have got two massive games ahead.
It's all up for grabs now.

That depends on who is fit enough for Wales as the bench will be starters and who is going to be on the bench if those injured tonight do not FULLY recover?

Scott Willaims' injury doesn't look good at all. I'd be surprised if we saw him again this WC. George North will likely play at 13, but that would mean Cuthbert back on the wing. The only thing Cuthbert did this game, was come on and give a penalty away for not rolling away.

Hallam Amos is dislocated his shoulder. It looked like it popped straight back in, so we'll have to see with him. Eli Walker may be fit again by now, Gat's said his hamstring trouble should have only kept him out for a couple of weeks, so.....

Liam Williams is going through concussion protocol, but that was a hefty blow to the head! Matthew Morgan would be in line to replace him, but he's not really the kind of player you'd want facing Fiji.....

He will get cited for that and should get a lengthy ban.

No he won't, what are you on about? Wood did absolutely nothing wrong. Totally accidental, and just something that happens in rugby. Get a grip man.

On a side note, how long would Mike Brown have survived, back when you were allowed to punch people? (yes yes I know it's never been 'allowed')

Congratulations to the Welsh. Completely deserved and incredibly gusty given all the injury troubles before and during the match.

He's been going far too far recently - needs to be told to pack it in.

Good luck to all of them and a speedy recovery...................meanwhile, have a few Brains tonight Boyos!!

Can't see England coping with Australia. Two obvious areas of weakness for England (breakdown and open field defence) will really be exploited by Australia. The days of them falling back on their set piece to crucify the Aussies are probably gone too. Everything points to Australia unfortunately. I say unfortunately because it'll be disappointing if the hosts go out so early.

Fair play to Wales though. Their big game players never let them down. Australia being their bogey team will probably see them face SA in the quarters. It'll probably bring attrition to new levels but i think they can win that.

Anyone think that Henson may actually be in line for a call up? We all know he keeps himself in shape, so I doubt Gats would have any problem with fitness. On top of losing Jon Davies, Scott Williams and Cory Allen, both Jack Dixon and Ashley Beck were seriously injured playing for the Dragons and Ospreys a few weeks ago. Tyler Morgan is in the squad, but he picked up a minor injury not long ago during the warm-ups.

We really are threadbare in certain positions now. The fullback, wing and prop situations aren't looking great either. Any news on Gareth Anscombe? What's Jordan Williams doing? Does Shane fancy coming out of retirement lol?

Agreed - until the full extent of injuries to Scott Williams, Liam Williams and Hallam Amos is known.

Anybody know what the RWC rules are around selecting players from outside the original 31 squad to come in during the tournament if you can't field a full competent side + subs due to injury.

There is always JJ and JPR!!

I think England will still get out of the group, anything can happen as with the welsh injuries and this game will have taken alot out of them they could struggle with Fiji.
I hope SL has the balls to drop barritt he's had some quiet games.
I'd lime to see Burgess with jj if fit if not slade

Same thing happened last year (or year before) in the 6n. We have, on paper, lots of centres, but they all seem to get injured at the same time.

There is always JJ and JPR!!

I'd love to see Brown square up to JPR :p
