[2015 RWC] Pool A: England vs. Wales (26/09/2015)

It would have been embarassing for England to kick to the posts when in the exact same situation freaking Japan went for the try against SA.

From Rugby Banter's page....

Typical Wales - invite them to the Big Smoke for a cup of poisoned tea, and they stab you in the monocle and **** down your throat.

Can't win without a scrum? Nope. Can't win with just your reserves? Nope. Wales fans think it's down to superior altitude training. Not to take away from that, but ... England, England, England - just not good enough.

Anyway, that gave me the same pleasure as Japan's win, for slightly different reasons. Especially after Shane Williams went into Jonathan Davies commentary mode on 70 mins: "Sigh ... why does it always rain on Wales?" What he didn't realise is Robshaw had just screwed up the winning opportunity, and would try to make up for it by daring for the corner.

Overall, deeply pleasurable - especially that final try and the counter-maul. The pool of death has become a swamp.

No its wouldn't Japan had nothing to loose we has everything and did!

It's just a bit of banter, calm yer ***s spoil sport, all the 'English arrogance' couldn't win this one today. That try from the Welsh was great, after some disappointing passages of play, this turned out a great game and I'm glad I watched it. It isn't over for England yet, they have more than enough of a chance to beat Australia.

Nah I've always said win it or get KO'd in the group stages and get some decent bloody coaches ! For once we have a fantastic group of players . They would have been involved had Lancaster not left them all behind ..... It brings tears to my eyes the players Lancaster left out over the past 2 years . Kvesic, Itoje, Cipriani, Wade and not to mention bloody Seymour ;)

Lancaster placing blame on Robshaw.

Don't like that TBF in private yeh to the media no.

BRB I'm playing Robshaw as need to be loyal to captain, captain makes a bad call it's his fault.

Lancaster made a rod for his own back when he failed to play a second option @ 7.

Blames injuries when Wales were decimated.

A $$hole

Congratulations to the Welsh team is in order. Brilliant bravery all over the park and a real intent to play. Gutted for England but one loss for each team could be in store. Bonus points might be vital.

England gave too many penalties away today. I still believe though England will get out of this group.

England beating Australia? This was a rather poor rugby game. The english have a great pressure line and some good kickers, but they don't have rugby enough to play australia.

If the wallabies lose is because they're week on a different level. Well, they probably are.

Yeah, actually England could pull this off.

You live by the sword, you die by the sword. The difference is Japan won, England didn't.

The problem was the execution of the line out, just poor by England and well defended by Wales.

Looks like this game has brought the TRF forum to its knees, it's struggling to load for me.

What a win. Backs against the wall stuff there. Biggar was monumental, Warburton huge. I can't quite believe we managed to win this game, what with all the injuries pre match, and another 3 injuries during the match. Huge credit to the players, they dug in deep today.

I still think Gats made some mistakes with selection. Charteris was huge when he came on, he should have been starting. Leaving Tips on the bench for 7/8ths of the match was crazy imo. Especially with us down. We got the result, but my god was it close.

I thought England still played well, really pressured us all game. Cole certainly has Gethin's number in the scrum. However, as some have said, they certainly tried to take Wales on at our own game, and today we managed to come out on top.

I still think the group is in the balance. Wales are now totally ravaged with injury. What are we going to do at fullback and center? England can still beat the Aussies and potentially set up a mouthwatering finale to the group.

Wow.

Don't play with a full deck of cards, expect to come up short.

Wales were 23 men possessed. Talk about putting bodies on the line in pursuit of victory. They just wanted it more - simple as that. Wales deserved winners.

Absolutely brilliant game. Probably one of the best in history of RWC.

Turning point at 66 mins. Forced subs for Wales - playing out of position to survive. England looking at this and thinking "we've got this"

Not so fast Kemosabe. Thanks for playing.
