[2015 RWC] Pool A: England vs. Wales (26/09/2015)

Johnny Wilkinson was on good form today. He strikes me as the best rugby pundit to come out of England ever.
He's smart, he reads the game, he's generous to the losers and congratulates the winners.
He was a good player but he's an excellent pundit.

Any England team without Burgess in the midfield will lose against Aussie.
England were winning when they subbed the monster tackling machine for a broomstick handle in Ford.
If Burgess had have been on the field he wouldn't have been encouraging Robshaw to go for touch, then it would have been a draw.
I have agreed with much of what you have said in this thread but why do you keep talking Burgess up, are you a Rugby League fan?

I ask because he has done next to nothing in Rugby Union, he is Andy Farrell mk II (the poor Union version). Granted tonight wasn't his fault but he was hardly inspirational either. I doubt he'd have had any effect on the kicking decision either, he'd be very much a back-seat guy owing to his recent conversion.

lol he is an all time great player, he won everything there is to win in the game.

Judge me on this game said Stuart Lancaster.

OK Stuart I will. You lost against an injury ravaged team despite leading. You should resign. You won't though. You'll blame ford.

c'mon england fans its not over yet (and this is comming from an aussie). im actually more concerned for wallabies as this result could really come back and haunt them missing out on the BP

It's beed said already, but worth saying again, England are far from out of this RWC.

Sure they are playing poorly, but the international game is really close right now and it may not take that much to right the ship. Beat OZ and they are through. I wouldn't right off Fiji against Wales either, which could even mean Eng may go through with 2 losses.

Don't give up - Come finals time, it is anyones cup!

Absolutely spot on. England find the grit come next Saturday and they are quite capable of beating Oz on the day. With just Uruguay after that they would go through to QF.

Wales play Fiji on Thursday - don't know if they will have recovered by then. Today's game has taken its toll. I think Fiji have a good chance here and they know it.
Advantage back to Wales with a 10 day break before meeting Oz. Injured players come back and with the type of guts they showed today they could still take that win.

Hope against hope but Oz knocked out is still a possibility. Stranger things have happened already in this RWC.

I'm so disappointed - I can't help being a pompous git........if only I was still the boss things would be so different. You have to take the boring option every time. Never mind the fans.......kick....kick....kick. I'm just so great....sometimes I have to pinch myself and remember I'm really just a normal mortal like you guys.....really I am.

France will win this World Cup I'm absolutely certain but call me crazy

Heart means nothing to you in a game obviously

He's a bit like that isn't he? that said, the part about things being different if he was the boss is true. It might well happen if England go out at the group stages.

Your boys will be playing for their lives at home. Pretty sure it'll be a contest * - and likely a very intense one at that.

I honestly don't know what to expect from us. * The Wallabies were a very hard read in the RC - losing the first hour of every match before winning the last 20 mins in each match, and then going to NZ and getting thumped.

We're the France of the Southern Hemisphere right now - we could be awesome or get beat by 30 lol.

I also think the level of hate Wales have for England can't be underestimated. That is a huge factor in games like these

Positives:

Scrum went well (though Marler was cheating his balls off - some refs will clock it, some won't)
Maul defence was decent (don't think it should have been a penalty first half)
Wood had a decent game
Binny was excellent, though considering he fielded quite a few kicks I would have liked to have seen him charge in to contact a bit more - then again, making sure we retain the ball/he can set it back properly is important
B. Youngs was good
Farrell had a very good game,
Wings went well enough with the little ball the had,
Burgess decent, want to see more,
Brown excellent - one of the best FBs in the world. I like how fiesty he is, but maybe he does take it a bit too far - didn't mind him getting involved after Lydiate's attempted leg breaker, but no need to continue it for as long as he did
Mako was very good as well - surely deserves a start now?

Let's remember we flattened a Wales 1st choice at their home 6 months ago now we've lost to an injury ravaged version of that side at our home in RWC. Something has truly gone wrong and the management need to own up that.
No, England didn't flatten Wales - there were two scores in it.

Will you guys man the f up! This was a brutal, brutal, brutal, brutal defeat. Possibly the most humiliating in rugby history. And years from now people will still refer to this brutal and humiliating defeat as a revelation of England's true character. But it's still all to play for. I for one am looking forward to what happens to England over the next couple of weeks, and I thank them for their job application and wish them well in their career.

Nothing ..hopefully we will have the likes of jj and sw there now that is a duo, Jamie quiet tonite mate I rate JD and SW over him

I wouldn't go that far, South Africa-Japan? Wales are at least tier 1. It's humiliating for England though, no doubt.

Let's not forget Wales have their own RWC losses to Samoa 2x & Fiji.

Dude, what on earth have you been reading? The majority of the English on here seem to be fully wearing this result! Man the f up? I think u just need to shut the f up ;)

or once I will talk about personal rugby stuff... under 17's we, netherhall were the best team by a stretch, it was a semi final against penrith, Stuart Lancaster was in that Penrith team.
With 10 minutes to go netherhall were 3 points down and got akickable penalty. I as captain wanted to go for goal, draw the game, and was utterly sure we would go on to win. Our coach said go for the try which we failed to get and we lost by 3 points...
Stuart Lancaster played in that game and won by a bad call by an touch line coach... I have just seen the same thing happen, except he learned nothing from that experience, and it burns me to this day...please. if anyone who reads this post can make him read it and realise what he ha s done, do so. he lived that experience, my team not his got it wrong and he let his team do exactly the same thing and lost... what can i say...
if he'd done it the right way I could have claimed I had a part in influencing the world cup because he learned from my team losing and his winning.. but he didn;t ... aaarrrgghhhhhhh

Not being funny pal but home team , home WC against a rival team you telling me the AB would of made a call to kick and draw against Australia rather than go for the win??? Whatever
