I'd back AWJ - great player, captains Ospreys. Can't see what POC would offer that he doesn't, except I think AWJ is on better form than POC and they'd be competing for the same shirt, arguably...

I know I sound very anti-POC today, I'm not I just think he's being very overhyped at the moment.

Again it not AWJ vs POC as I'd personally have BOD but still don't see it and AWJ has never convinced me fully but as I say I not fully aware of him as captain but like Ospreys have really under-achieved for all talent they have/had and I just don't think AWJ is captain material for Lions. Maybe he will be ahead of POC maybe he won't. As I said on another thread I hope Paulie goes on no Lions tour as he is getting married and I'd prefer he have a rest too.
And just on paulie - If he were captain, he's proven to do job at this level and AWJ isn't so there 1 thing and you talk about form 4 games back and POC has 3 Man Of Match awards. Not bad form really.

POC is only being named for what he has done in the past. I haven't been AWJ's biggest fan in the past, but he was has been very influential since his return from injury.

Well have you watched him recently regards his performances and if your on in terms of captaincy then how else can you be checked except for what you do in past

To be fair, I think the Ospreys have been going pretty well since AWJ became captain. He wasn't captain when the so called gallactico's under performed.

I'd have no problem with POC captaining though. I think he's an excellent captain, and if Gats thinks he's a good option to start, then I'm all for it.

Lads can I ask what has AWJ done in terms of captaincy to be considered that is so massive? I just missing it, yes a good player but like is he a good man at handling the ref, doing all the media crap, saying the right things at the right time, blending the squad and doing his natural game? I'm not saying he isn't just asking as I don't know enough to comment. I hear Martin Johnson recommending him but in my opinion Jonno was a good player but a clown ever since and can't be taken too seriously

Still can be a dark horse for the Lions although I'd rather he hold off, get experience with Ireland and well don't bet against him being the starting 10 next tour

He's done a damn fine job as captain for the Ospreys, certainly been an inspiration for them - especially recently when he returned from injury.
