Chip on the shoulder? :)

Yeah but I can admit it.:)

Seriously how many times do you need to be told? Mike Ross had cramp. You try stopping nearly a tonne pushing against you with cramp.

I can remember a scrum in the first half in the Welsh 22 on the right where we got a good shunt on.

Osperylian I am delighted. Just as it's your right to have an opinion it's my right and if I think you have said something out of line I can neg you. If you say good stuff I can rep you. I see you've also exorcised your right to neg me, grand. No real need to being it up and play the victim. But please do take the advice I gave on board and just so you know your "comeback" doesn't really work.

Best excuse ever! :lol::p

Yeah the best thing is it's true. He went off shortly after and had been down already. Coaches came out and said as much. Not just to excuse one scrum of course.

That must be such a terrible experience having cramp in the middle of a bloody scrum. Fair play to him for getting on with it as long as he could

I reckon he'd be ****ing unbelievable at 13 given the correct service and inside men.

In attack maybe, but judging by how easily Fofana brushed him off, his defence is far from good enough to be an international 13, at least not yet. We also haven't had a chance to see his distribution game.

What do people think about Jon Davies' chances. His game v Ireland was terrible, and his distribution is still pretty poor. However he does have strengths. His defence was superior to any other centre this 6 nations (he'd made over 90% of his tackles before the England game), and I don't remember him missing one in that game), and he is a strong runner with ball in hand. I thought he was more effective at carrying that ball than Roberts this campaign, and always got over the gainline against England on Sat. If given a chance he certainly knows his way to the try-line.

Do those strengths outweigh his big weakness though? The again, Tuilagi isn't too much better in the distribution department. I'd probably have him as just missing out, but I would possibly take him above Marshall and Twelvetrees. I have been impressed with Scott though.

I think as stated Hogg was moved to 15 as he is a poor defender. For a centre especially in a Lion test we need guys like Davies BOD Barritt etc that you know when they go to make a hit it unlikely they'll be rolled over. As in especially when blending 4 nation in to 1 you have enough worries besides hoping lads aren't a risk in making tackles

Just to add to the Hogg at 13 debate, he has some experience there, but I doubt many would suggest him as being an option for the Lions, even as a cover. I don't think his defence is as bad as some are making out though - certainly not the best tackling fullback available, but not appalling, and his 'non-tackling defence' (I mean positioning, rather than the approach of some fly halves!) is quite good. Obviously his positioning at 13 would be much weaker.

For the record, I'd take Halfpenny and Kearney.

Hey guys, sorry if it's a bit off topic but I didn't want to start a new thread as my questions relate to kinda old news.

Did anyone hear about how gatland asked the lions hopefuls to go easy on each other?
If so, since I didn't see any of the six nations games, can you please assure me that noone listened to him. I need to hear this for my peace of mind.

Cheers.

First I've heard of it.

Don't think anyone paid attention to it, didn't look that way. Cian Healy certainly didn't!

Well that is great to know!

Here's a link: http://www.espnscrum.com/six-nations-2013/rugby/story/178324.html

and here's ome of teh best parts:

"We are requesting that players who we hope will be playing this June and July to make a pact with each other," said Gatland. "We hope they won't tackle each other, for example, or clear each other out forcefully at rucks. Basically, anything that could cause injury we want to avoid. For instance, we don't want Dan Cole running full speed at Ryan Jones. Or, heaven forbid, Danny Care running aggressively into Mike Phillips."

"In a couple of months we are going to be swapping blows with one of the most dangerous teams in the world," said Gatland. "All this happens pretty soon. And we ain't ready. We need to step up and fight this team hard. Why would we want to damage our own chances by beating each other up? It's madness. I think our strategy, whilst unorthodox and likely to upset traditionalists, will become standard practice in years to come. I really believe this will be a turning point in Lions history."

And no, I checked, it wasn't April 1st

Gatland has suggested that when two potential Lions players come face to face in an attacker and tackler situation they should compromise in the following manner:
+ Attacker slows down ahead of defender to prevent 'rough' contact.
+ Defender shouts: 'Tackle!"
+ Defender carefully places one hand on Attacker's shoulder.
+ Attacker slowly lies down as if tackled and Defender carefully lies down next to him.
+ Ball is laid back as if real ruck has taken place.
+ No ruck takes place between any other potential Lions from either side.
+ Ball is then played as normal and game continues.

Umm, so this is when I checked other calendars on the internet, in case someone had changed the calendar on my computer as an April 1st prank, and sure enough the evidence still suggested it wasn't April 1st.

"We'd also like to encourage cross team arse patting," added Gatland.

LMFAO, this is when I got suspicious that there was a global conspiracy amongst all online calendars to change the date such that it wasn't April 1st....Nahthat has to be slightly less likely than this story actually being true.

That's good to hear!

Here's some of what was said:

OK, so at this point I am thinking maybe someone has changed teh date on my computer calendar as a prank and it actually is April 1st, so I check online calendars...Sure enough it is NOT April 1st.

"We'd also like to encourage cross team arse patting," added Gatland.

LMFAO, this is too much. At this point I'm wondering whether all online calendars have conspired together to change the date from April 1st.....No that is slightly less likely than this story being true. Wow.

"So if the English scrum drives the Welsh scrum back ten yards and wins a penalty, we want players from both sides congratulating the English pack. So we'd ask the Welsh players to give a friendly, encouraging little pat on the backside to their brothers from across the border. Is that too much to ask, really? Isn't rugby one big family after all? What could be a nicer symbol of our joint aim for glory this summer? Imagine what the sight of such a thing would do to the Aussies. They would be terrified."

Hahahahahaha, ooh so scary, hahahahahaha.

This pretty much sounds like date night with the husband.

Yeah, just Googled and it's from ESPN's "East Terrace", which is their joke/spoof blog :p

Careful, Mike Phillips might be after you now.

Hahaha he is a bit of a lad on twitter! Anyone see his tweet about attempting a 3 some with two attractive German ladies on his ferry back to France? I'm not sure they had a clue who he was, but hats off if he pulled it off :p
