Transfers rumours

if he goes the way of mark mc crea i will be mighty ****** off

Had a few injuries hasn't he? Mindyou, Cochrane's got previous on that... end of the day, he's not looking like making it here (no shame in that) so he might as well get a chance to sink or swim elsewhere.

Apparently Bath are in with a 6-figure transfer fee for Faletau

Next year Donald/Louw is going to qualify for being the marquee player and taken outside the salary cap, which frees up a chunk of money for Faletau to fit under the salary cap, so it wouldn't surprise me. If Joseph joins too, Bath are looking a whole lot more dangerous...

Faletau and Louw together could be a very destructive back row.
Bath need new halfbacks as well.

How are Bath going to fit this all in the salary cap?

Sounds like they are having a big shake up there this season it seems.

Donald goes soon, Louw or Faletau are 'marquee' signing. Leicester and Saracens somehow manage their teams, so Bath should be able to.

Not sure about that. Marquee players have to be at the club for more than 2 years. At the min, their marquee player is someone like Mears or Banahan, whereas next year it will be Donald or Louw - which must free up tens of thousands of pounds under the salary cap and pay for most of Faletau's wages.

I am expecting a small amount of movement though. They need to strengthen a few positions, and have a lot of depth in others.

Where have you seen that?

I have read in some places that Donald was Bath's marquee player.

Bath rumoured to be over the Salary cap all ready.
Three teams were found to be over, and fined. Bath suddenly offloaded Olly Barkley to Racing Metro (I know he was an injury joker but they got rid of him mid season and also when both other flyhalves were injured) and one of their coaching staff too.

Don't know why they'd want Faletau, their handling is bad enough with out Teflon joining them.

I thought the marquee signing couldn't be a new foreign signing?

Oh you ;)
How is Andy Powell getting on? Most recent reports were 'dire'.

How could Bath breach the salary cap? They don't have anywhere near as many big names as the likes of the Saffacens.

Dunno, most seem to think it was Bath, Sarries and Leicester - though Gloucester or Saints could fit instead of Bath.
Baths cost cutting mid-season does fit them in.
Barkley would've been on a fair wedge being a senior player, and there are a few more like Mears, Claassens and Abendanon who, while not really world beaters, probably get a decent wage as Bath would want to keep them - and then they'd have had to pay out big bucks to get Donald and Eastmond on board. Agulla and James probably cost a bit, as I imagine they were chased by French clubs, and then Rob Webber left being 1st choice at Wasps for them, and was breaking into the England squad at the time, so wouldn't have been that cheap.

Powell's playing OK, dunno where you got dire from. No one is touting him as the best thing since sliced bread like they are with sir can't-catch though ;)

Is it still 2010/11? That might explain it.
Speaking of good hands, have to love Ryan against the Turks, there was the BP, eh?

Olly you completely exaggerate Faletau's lack of handling ability. Sure he's not the greatest, but he's by no means the worst in his position. Lauaki for instance once dropped the ball like 7 times in a 30 minute cameo appearance for the All Blacks (a record for most dropped balls in a game?), Powell also has worse handling than Faletau as well.

I like Draggs have heard that Powell isn't doing great, I saw him play against Gloucester, dropped the ball, bickered with Cipriani, threw an offload on the floor, conceded a couple of penalties. I notice he was dropped to the bench after that match. He was also fined £5000 lately for abusing Bath fans (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/ru...950/Andy-Powell-fined-swearing-Bath-fans.html).

And talking about number 8's with poor handling ability. England's own Tongan Billy Vunipola who himself seems to be receiving a ton of hype lately, has terrible handling, worse than Faletau, I saw him make a number of handling errors the last couple of games I've seen him play. Video below shows the worst of them.

Toby, in his Froby era, dropped a few passes against England (his second cap).
Kill the *******. Also, poaching Welsh.

Wasps v Sale was awful, Andy was Andy.

My bad, misread something.

Excluded player section:

A Club shall only be entitled to nominate a Player as an Excluded Player who:
(i) has been a Player of the Club for atleast two full Salary Cap Years prior to the Salary Cap Year in which he is nominated as the Excluded Player; or
(ii) has not been a Player of any Aviva Premiership Club during the previous Salary Cap; or
(iii) was selected and included in a national playing squad of any country participating in the RWC2011.
Missed the 'or', assumed that you had to satisfy i, ii and iii. Carry on! :p

Love how precious youre getting duck - why would slagging off Powell or, especially Vunipola, bother me?
Powell's all right, not as good as Vernon, but a decent club player. Vunipola is very overrated. On good form at the moment, but not exactly the finished article.

Whatabouttery isn't really a valid argument. X being poorer at a skill than Y does not invalidate claims than Y is poor at said skill.

Videos, stats or even your opinion showing Faletau having not poor hands would be a valid argument. I'd probably agree, he's not got the world's best but there's nothing wrong with them. Would far rather read something like that tbh.

...

re Bath and the salary cap, common consensus is that Donald is on an absolutely ridiculous amount of money. To add to Olyy's list of expensive names, Attwood was an England probable who they beat Glaws to, Wilson is England's no 2 tighthead prop, Simon Taylor can't be cheap, neither would Banahan be depending on when he signed his last contract.

Apparently there is a big clear out planned there, I've heard that a few times from people who should know. Lot of dissatisfaction with the players and all that, doesn't sound a happy ship at present.

latest, Classens Bath to Toulon if Wilco retires no more salary cap problems at Bath, Toulon dont have a salay cap, unlike the rest of us in the TOP 14 !!!!
