Premiership Rugby 19/20 - Round 2

Not vintage Chiefs by any means, bath beat us glad we defended and kept at least the BP. Defence wasnt great tbh

Hogg, week and a half with the team made some good runs but coming from Scotland you'd think he would know how to judge the wind for kicks.

Chiefs will come back good ive no doubt. From our team we are missing LCD skinner armand white devoto slade woodburn nowell. Hogg isnt up to speed yet.

Bath bested us and have lost some of their own. In JJ Mac watson Underhill. So no complaints, not about the result anyway.

And Cuthbert seriously that was a great break and just took the outside mercer gave him and got smashed. Great tackle, won them the game.

Priestland is playing well, it's his kind of game

First time poster here, so Hi!

Priestland thrives in wet, windy conditions so tonights weather was ideal for him. He gets a fair amount of criticism for not attacking the line more and sitting too deep etc but in foul weather, he is solid which Freddie definitely isn't who needs dry, running rugby weather.

Anyway, great win. To concede 7 tries last week against a good side to winning against an even stronger side tonight is a really positive sign.

Interesting stat. SSimmonds played 2 games 160 minutes 30 tackles 0 missed. So even in the last 20 min he hasnt missed a single tackle.

Akker has scored in every game he's played in so far, what a boy

Solomona just scored a great try - his chip and regather was great, but one of the Du Preez twins (not sure which) went to do a massive miss pass to him on the wing, realised he couldn't make it so dropped it on the boot for a crossfield grubber/kick pass
So audacious

Gotta love a slide in.
No dive, just fell over 6m short of the line, stops sliding about 3m the far side of it!

Does anyone know who is going to replace Ben Spencer v Leicester this afternoon?
Straight replacement with Wigglesworth, or are they giving Whiteley a run?

Bloody hell Ben White has clearly studied under Ben Youngs. So depressing. At least he's willing to go into the breakdown if the ball is at risk though. Slight improvement.

Harsh on Hogg after one game in dreadful conditions.

Basically what he brings is Baxter's plan B. When Exeter's usual multi-phase game doesn't work, the B plan has always involved giving the ball to an elusive back and hoping they'll create something out of nothing. Previously that was Nowell or Cordero, now it'll be Nowell or Hogg.

Plus Devoto Slade Nowell Hogg sounds like a good back line to me. ATM we only have a Hogg who has had no time with the team. Stupid mistakes but everyone get caught out by the weather and trying to hard to impress by putting in great a kick pinning them back rather than a safe long kick.

I'm interested to see how Hogg does fit.

No preseason and getting put straight into it what do people expect though.
Give him a bit longer, he was in Japan not that long ago.

That being said he is no Cordero he is more systematic than Cordero's step and see what happens.

Really tough weekend for Wasps again this weekend and with a fair amount of grumblings from fans (some justified) over the result. Looking undercooked and likely to struggle with Leicester, Worcester & Irish. My worry being you look at who Irish and Tigers have to comeback compared to us and we really do look like we might struggle.

Lot of calls for a rethink of the coaching structure as if we have brought fresh blood in from a player perspective why not coaches? worked for Saints & Glaws.

Also shout out to Thibaud Flament for making his Prem debut this weekend at second row. 4 years ago, he was playing fly half for Loughborugh University's 5th (Social) Team. What a story of transformation that is.

Be interesting to see how Sarries go this season - off field trouble, bunch of injuries (Williams (3 months), Goode (4 months), Barritt and Malins all out), and the returning England players only being allowed to play 7 prem games this season (not sure how flexible the club will be on that?).

I didn't realise that the Eng players are only allowed 7 prem games? that really shakes things up..... is this the same for the other international players e.g. De Klerk, De Jager, Mostert etc.. ?

Think it's a Sarries policy rather than a World Rugby one - Sanderson mentioned it on the weekend.

Plus the potential outcome of the salary cap breach. Could be a tough year for them.
