Aviva Premiership - Round 3

Yeah - phenomenal attacking performance from Bath.

I reckon you'll enjoy it quite a bit... basic skills being executed perfectly.

was it a good game? was just about to sit down to watch it and had to leave to pick the wife and nipper up as their train went to the wrong station.

The tigs game is prob worth a watch TBH from non tigers fans.

Plenty of tries of the season in it.

sounds like Morris (Leg), Youngs (shoulder), Parling (concussion), Tait (Neck) and Burns(?) may have picked up injuries. FML!

Some special tries but so one sided, it was not a great game more a practice run for Bath!!

Is it possible for sides to call off a game because they can't field a side?
Tigers can't be far off, surely?

Manu will play next week, Allen might play not sure. and Gibson will be fit. thorn may well be okay not sure again.

we are pushing it but in the next month we are meant to have:

Rizzo
Ayerza
Thorn
Loamanu
Bai
Scully
Benjamin (he is fit but cant play till oct due to the ruling apparently).

But we have a total of 4 fit prop over the age of 20, which is really pushing it. Hopefully it will last till Rizzo and Ayerza are back in early Oct.

Saints vs Bath next week is the next real acid test for this Bath side.

Wilson vs Corbs will be immense. If Bath manage to win away against Saints, you'd have to think they are definite top 4 material.

By the way Houston, Attwood and Fearns were immense today. Albeit Fearns was cut a little short.

Right it can be hard to write off players and over hype them over one game but.....here i go.
The individual match ups today Webber v Youngs, Attwood v Parling/Kitchener , Fearns v Croft, Ford v Burns and everyone was a resounding Bath win. Attwood put in one of the best enforcer roles I have ever seen, he dominated really the whole back 5. Webber had one hell of a game, not really a match up but he was still great. Fearns was only on the for around 25 minutes but his carrying was big and his tackling was hard ! Then it comes to Ford v Burns and well...............there isn't much to say.

Attwood really was outstanding. Him, Lawes and Launchbury have started the season excellently, which is great news.

I thought Youngs was pretty good, for the little time he was on.
Looked like one of the few Tigers players ****** off about what was happening, and looking to do something about it.

Webber didn't really go up against Youngs did he. As Olyy said he was the most passionate tigers player out there.

Others I agree with although Burns did try to do stuff to his credit.

Burns didn't have much of a chance behind that pack. That said I won't hide in stating I think Ford is a country mile the best 10 going in England at the moment.

It was of no consequence though, the front row dismantling at the scrum was the route of the problems for Leicester, it's usually their out route to most things and they are usually almost always on top. Today was the first time I saw that completely dismantled.

When it went, they had little else and I don't think Tuilagi would have made any difference to that scoreline in truth. No out ball means constant pressure and ceeding possession to your opposition.

Take a bow firstly James and Wilson for destroying their oppo number and then Henry Thomas gave a great cameo in scrummaging off the bench with Auterac.

They will definitely need more of the same against Saints to back up their claims of ***le contenders though.

I don't begrudge quins some points but if the fat controller was still half decent we would have won that. Story of the last two seasons to be honest.

It's almost as if i'd said that ?
Webber had one hell of a game, not really a match up but he was still great

Also Burns was trying stuff but nothing was going to happen. Now this is why I have some doubts over him for England, that behind a struggling pack he can't play at all. Maybe Ford can but i'm not sure if I have seen him playing behind a poor pack, Cipriani has shown he has the ability to play behind anyone.

Ford has looked fantastic so far, but I'm reserving full judgement until he's played against Saints and/or Saracens.
He's had an arm chair ride in the opening rounds (notch one up for the Bath pack, who have been immense), but it's when the pressure's on that he (sometimes massively) struggled last season. I'm hoping he's gotten past that, as he's looked ridiculously good so far, but then he cost Bath some games when his head went last year.

Yeah I agree Olyy.

Need to see him tested against Saints and Sarries. If they get a solid hard working win with him kicking the goals against Saints, then rip Sarries a new arsehole with him orcestrating, then not picking him 10 from now on for England would be nothing short of a travesty. Not just him though, it goes for Eastmond, Devoto, Watson when fit, Wilson, Attwood heck even Cook looks like he's come on bounds.

If they beat both teams and there is a chance at least, it proves they can handle the pressure and mostly they have hard fixtures back to back and they will show a level of consistency in their performance to warrant picking them.

I know I haven't spoken much about Quins but it is more due to Bath holding England's future talent and Exeter to another extent, so they will get more air time.

Slade and Hill very good again this weekend by the way.

Did Eastmond do enough to put his hand up for the England 12 spot. He's looking good this season.

Though he had an Armchair ride with his pack and Ford playing so well....

I would loved to see how he coped against Allen & Manu.

As for the Falcons....

Godman needs to be removed from the squad permanently.
Ally Hogg is now looking past his best and doesnt offer anything now.
Will Welch likewise is going to have to start justifying his postiion and his captaincy. No good enough.
Alex Tuilagi looks like a fat prop. We knew he was past his best...but i guess we didnt know just how past it he was.
Noah Cato is on borrow time also on the wing. Time to give one of the kids a shot...Sean Brown or Zach Kibirige.

Hammersley is a class act at FB especailly at 21yo.
Brookes and Scott Wilson are two cracking props.
Furno is not a lock hes too lightweight....but he's a total livewire of a 6.
JP Socino CAN play 10....so play him there!

Attwood was excellent, watch him in the maul on the coast to coast eastmond try.

Agree with this, he has looked good, but they've dismantled London Welsh and Leicester and on both occasions that's been because the pack has been immense.

The guy who's really impressing me is Joseph, how about him for the England right wing?
