All Blacks vs Wallabies, August 7th 2010, Fifth Tri Nations Test

I first saw pocock's game when the young wallabies won the 2006 u-19s World Cup, I was officiating then. He's been a quality player ever since!

Kaplan: Gives final warning, says next time it'll be a yellow
McCaw infringes again -> no action :p

What a game, best i've seen in a while, glad i got up to watch it
Wallabies much improved from last week, scrums were inferior to ABs, and their kick chase was very slow, but they were class. Good at keeping possession, and some quality counters (that quick lineout to Drew Mitchell at 70ish mins was brilliant)

All I can say is: I hope they both implode soon, or else England are ****ed in the AIs :p

I think we should be pretty pleased with that. It makes it nine consecutive wins against Australia and basically hands us the Tri Nations. It wasn't as good as the other games but we aren't going to thrash teams every week.

i thought it was a pretty boring game, australia can only keep improving from here, their team was young and new so imagine how good australia are gonna be in the future. nz started off well but i thought their performance was below par from all their previous games this year. they made a lot more mistakes, dropped a lot of balls and australia had a lot more posession than we did. both teams were great defensivley though. but it won't surprise me if australia do beat us in the next game

btw this is now the 7th year in a row where we've held the bledisloe cup lol thats nearly a decade of holding the bledisloe cup :D

A real test match that was.

Looks like the All Blacks have a "Plan B" or should I say, "Plan D"... D for defence. The tackle count would surely have to be in the 200's, and it was like a Black Wall, there was just no way through.

Woodcock was lucky not to get

That was just a dumb-f**k thing to do.

This was just the game the All Blacks needed to give them a wake-up call. Their defence was tested tonight, and it passed with honors. Forget the freakish Kurtley Beale try; that only happened because the All Blacks were hot on attack and a lucky break from a force Dan Carter offload gave Beale the ball in space with no defenders in the way. Essentially, for the rest of the game, there was just no way the Wallabies could break the All Blacks defensive screen;

► Genia found no gaps around the fringes
► The midfield couldn't batter their way through Nonu & Smith
► Whenever they went wide, Jane, Joe Rocs and Mils showed them the sideline.

It was an awesome defensive display.

Genia didn't look for any gaps around the fringes. All he did was deliver ball. The black Peter Stringer!

Nice close game nice to watch,Pocock was awesome he's up there with Mc Caw...

Thought it was on ok games and I thought Kaplan could have penalised more than once a team for constantly diving over the top of rucks when clearing out.

Overall boring game with no flair , good defensive display by NZ but thats it.

Great game! So that's what a 15 vs. 15 game looks like! :p

Been waiting for a tight contest. I was curious if the boys could still defend close matches. Well done! :D

Also, big props to Pocock. That guy is earning the McCaw comparisons. Soldiering on, and playing like the Master/God himself. The Wallabies are very lucky to have him, and if not for him turning ball over (and Genia running the backs), doesn't seem like the Wallabies can be competitive.

EDIT: The idiots can have a go/whinge about the All Blacks and refs HERE.

Eh?!?! Are you serious?

James O'Connor has to go.

O'Connor only really got into the game after the 60th minute, but when he did he played well. He should definately not go, he has played consistantly well on the wing.

Is it just me or is Elsom just not good as a captain? Would rather see Pocock or Genia as the captain - they would always lead from the front.

keep in mind this is a young and inexperienced australian team vs new zealands best and experienced team, australia are improving with a young team whereas nz may well have already had their peak, as a new zealander i'm worried this is a repetition of what happened in 03 and 07

finally someone else who thought this game was boring :D i thought i was the only one. still i'd rather a boring win than an exciting loss, it was exciting in the opening minutes but the game just died down afterwards, maybe its just because both teams played so well defensively

btw i think woodcock should have got a yellow card though but i think he didn't based on all the complaints about the yellow cards delt out this season, but i think he deserved a yellow

Fainga'a seems to be a quality hooker, everywhere at the breakdowns and making some quality tackles. It looks like the baptism of fire they suffered against England at scrum time has toughened them up, come WC I reckon they're going to have a quality scrum. JOC is not a winger, be better employed at OC or FB imo. Confused as to why the Wallabies didn't dink more over the top tbh.

The ABs don't look as unbeatable as they did, if a young Wallabies team can get that scoreline against them.

the reason why the aussie wingers were driven to the sideline was because giteau kept running cross field, he had a poor game and cant whinge about being overtaken by cooper, thought the ref was quite good actually considering it was kaplan and the games are never free flowing under him, carters tactical ticking was the difference i felt
