Law 15.5 The Tackled Player

(b) A tackled player must immediately pass the ball or release it. That player must also get up or move away from it at once.

(c) A tackled player may release the ball by putting it on the ground in any direction, provided this is done immediately.

... once you're tackled, those are the instructions. No player is permitted to have a second crack.
The law referring to scoring is 15g:

(g) If a player is tackled near the goal line, that player may immediately reach out and ground the ball on or over the goal line to score a try or make a touch down.

It offers no guidance on how many cracks you are allowed, only that whatever is done must be immediate. See the accompanying video: http://www.irblaws.com/index.php?law=15. Person hits deck and then reaches out. That is fine.

Win or lose, not really the flashest day at the office for Williams or Cruden.

SBW Is an awesome player but sometimes has too much confidence in his ability to offload and sometimes can wait a bit too late...until the contact.

J'nuh, not sure how it's officiated in your part of the world then mate. But double movement penalties happen here.

****s sake Nige.
He penalises Eastmond for being off his feet when the balls already out of a ruck, but then McCaw is allowed to play the ball off his feet at will.

Pretty much - it's the matter of half a second and hard to make the correct ball but you'd have to say that that could prove a big moment.

If you look again, McCaw went onto his hands initially before going in to scoop the ball out. Penalty, England in my books. Anyway, it happens.

May and Brown not showing a great understanding of each other under the high ball.

Nothing new there, it's pretty mad altogether how weird those two are together.

Good call from Nige.

Nige can eat my ****.
Wasn't on the line, penalty to England.

Don't think it was a try - but very, very close.

Just about stole a try then....

Why the HELL do we keep doing those short pop passes to the guy back in the pocket - it means the kicker has to wait for the ball and when that happens the charge-down is always going to be a possibility. Why couldn't we ship it out

England putting WAY too much pressure on themselves. Very frustrating.

Come-on. We need to take these chances!

Why is that Coles fault? He was trying to leave. wtf

Nothing in that at all, IMO.
Play on.

What are you doing Nige? Put the cards away!
