Transfers rumours

Issues over central contract I've heard...Probably took a knock to the self esteem here.

Bayonne have cash and provided they stay up they will have a star studded team next year , one that he could well fit into

I wouldn't recommend any player signs for Bayonne, their owner is in charge of the transfers and has specialised in finding the exact players who don't give a stuff about Bayonne or or aged stars and signs them when they are no longer good, this season the All Black trio of Rokocoko-Lauaki-Tialata have been woefully lazy all three of them, and Cédric Heymans has got old and not been too impressive this season either

the owner signs the wrong players, and when it doesn't work out (which is pretty much every season) he sacks coach after coach after coach, this season he has sacked two coaches and it's been announced the current coaches won't be asked back after the end of the season

no player would fit well into the Bayonne side

From a lifestyle perspective, going to Bayonne would be brilliant for Fitzgerald. He'd likely double his wages and live in a far nicer climate with a more relaxed pace of life than if he remains with Leinster. There's no way I'd begrudge him making that choice. From a rugby perspective, it's not great for him since he'll be out of signt of Irish management and won't compete for trophies. I suppose those are the pros and cons he'll have to weigh up.

Shane Geraghty back to London Irish.

Seems a bit odd, doesn't he still have a year or more left on his contract at Brive?
Then again, he's barely played for them with his injuries.

I was reading an article bout Geraghty's move and saw this, I hurled all over my house WHY DO PEOPLE THINK HE IS EXCITING!?!
he is likely to form an exciting half-back partnership at Irish with Tomas O'Leary, the Ireland and Lions scrum-half who will be joining from Munster in the summer.

Interesting, I'd just presumed it was a 2 year deal as that's the standard length.

I thought him and Booth didn't get on and had a bust up when he left, but then again Booth may well be off at the end of the season.

With the Jiff's rule, it's gonna get harder for foreigners that are not superstars (or props) to play in France. It makes sense for Brive to get rid of him.

Brive look likely to be relegated next year, they've lost their two best players (Claassen and Kakovin), three other first choice starters (Bias, Bélie and Dubarry) and a player who could potentially be good for them although not shown it because he's been injured for most of the season (Geraghty)

Bah, let down by my inability to read again. :D

Ben Blair is a decent enough replacement, although he's certainly not the player he was 3 or 4 years ago.

Not sure, Blair looked good today. He's returned to form pretty quickly after what was a very long time out of the game. He's a top quality player.

The Blues could certainly use him next year. Instead they'll have Chris Czekaj and Dan Fish as back up to Halfpenny...
