Transfers rumours

Hearing that the Scarlets are looking to move in on a Georgian prop and Argentina second row Manuel Carizza. They've apparently got a new investor who's eager to bring in some quality players.

excellent, about time teams outside France began to realise there are some handy props coming out of Georgia, who are cheap options as well, and sadly who teams will be able to sign knowing that they will be able stop them being called up to international duty much as the Georgian Rugby Union as the Georgian Rugby Union has only really been able to get the best side released for about one or at most two matches a year

Andy Long to Gloucester - this came a bit out of nowhere. Can't say I'm disappointed though.

I voted for him as player of the season for Northampton. Good signing for you. Incredible work rate

Saw that on the Beeb this morning. Can't post link as I'm on my phone now. Good for them lot but another blow for the Sprays and welsh rugby in general.

This is an interesting one. Paul James has matured into a great player, and he'll definitely be missed my the Ospreys, but they can cope with his loss. Bevington is imo the future Welsh loosehead, so increased gametime for him will be a good thing. Duncan Jones is still a very good regional player, and I'm sure there's a youngster ready for the step-up when needed at the region.

So while losing a player of James' quality is always going to be a blow to a team with genuine ambitions like the O's, he's not the worst player to loose considering the backups available. For the national team, this is a good thing, because it will allow Bevington more gametime. What is disappointing, is that one of the other regions couldn't lure him to play for them. The Blues severely need a player of his quality.

He's on a big contract and with new restrictions it makes no sense to have three looseheads of that quality when the money could be better spend elsewhere, and both James and Bevington are missing with Wales for half the year. Especially when Bev will almost certainly be first choice next year anyway. He may not have the grunt in the scrum that James has, but with the scrum the refereeing lottery it is at the moment I'll take Bev's all round game any day of the week. James' value is as an international replacement where he covers both sides of the scrum. For the Ospreys, the 23 man squad means that is less of an issue. Duncan Jones is a more than solid backup and Joe Rees also looks very tidy as Adam's understudy.

Personally, I think that losing Bowe and Shane aside, the Ospreys have done very well in cutting costs without affecting the starting XV. Paul James and Bennett are just too expensive to have either sitting on the bench or away with Wales. If we can bring in a couple of decent backs (mainly a 15) on the cheap then the squad will have a decent balance next year.

I really think the Ospreys should sign Sinoti Sinoti of Aironi, he's a livewire player, will be available and should be reasonably cheap

Could he bring Masi with him?

[/URL]that site also says that the Georgian fifth choice loosehead prop Karlen Asieshvili of Aurillac is "flying in", and they are talking to "the Clermont tighthead" the former All Black Bradley Mika and the Puma Manuel Carizza, and also Daniel Carpo

there are no sources supplied however though, but it is true that unless the Scarlets plan on playing kids and have little or no depth next season, they will need to buy new props to replace Iestyn and Rhys Thomas, a new pair of locks to replace Reed and Day, and a new number 8 to replace Morgan, that is five eights of their pack gone for next season

this site has even more crazy Welsh regions rumours, here is a few of them

From a lifestyle perspective, going to Bayonne would be brilliant for Fitzgerald. He'd likely double his wages and live in a far nicer climate with a more relaxed pace of life than if he remains with Leinster. There's no way I'd begrudge him making that choice. From a rugby perspective, it's not great for him since he'll be out of signt of Irish management and won't compete for trophies. I suppose those are the pros and cons he'll have to weigh up.

...far nicer climate.................been piggin' raining for weeks here. Not a chance of a hosepipe ban for years!! Think being hard on Joe Rokocoko.....he is does not seem to be lazy being as how he is one that seems to want extra training over and above the other players who are itching to get off to something else other than putting the effort in...............................the problem with Bayonne is not the quality of players but the total lack of togetherness and playing for the colours mostly inspired by the influx of the "money" signings by Afflelelou who thinks he can split a club wide open and then buy success! How many coaches and presidents have they got through since he became sponsor!! Huge shame as their supporters are superb and deserve better.........the atmosphere and noise there is so much higher than "up road" at Aguillera (Biarritz) where you have a lot of "prawn sandwiches" supporters diluting the similar avid type that go to Bayonne. Personally, and heretically, I believe that the two clubs will only flourish fully when they merge as they are too close and share too many sponsors diluting the money available to challenge at the top of the Top 14 for some years to come, if ever!

I hope he doesn't. I don't mind him going well for Edinburgh, but I wouldn't want to see him playing well for Tigers, being a Sale academy product 'n' all :p
