Don't really see that as value for money. But it is the position they need desperately, and I have no idea if any other locks are available.

I understand Harlequins have signed Wallaby lock James Horwill. Well a new 10 to replace Evans, a new 8 for Easter who is still playing at a great level and maybe a new centre but even then Lowe has been great this year.Think that they need more than a lock......there are more than a couple of guys who are getting to their sell by date................

Has Botica faltered?
To me he is to hit and miss. He can have games where he runs the game beautifully and then he plays like me. For a team like Quins who want to get top 4 in the league and as far as they can in Europe. I don't think that Botica has the ability to guide them through like Evans has until now.Has Botica faltered?

If this was the Horwill from the winning Reds team then yes, he brings you a lot. Horwill struggles to get into the Australian team which has probably the weakest tight five of the top tier nations. As I said I don't know wbo else is available but 300k is a lot of money which I wouldn't want to pay if I he was coming to Sarries, even if we had only Kruis and Hargreaves and no depth. On merit over the last year or two he would only just be an upgrade on Robson. If he gets back to his best then 300k could well be a bargain.Lots of chat about how the Horwill thing is a sign of Quins loosing faith in their young talent, which is crap. He's an upgrade/replacement for Robson. 300k pa is an inflated price, but we are crying out for a player of Horwill's experience and skill. We're got three young, promising locks with George Robson to partner them. Robson has been a great club man and is a good Premiership lock but he's getting a bit past it and doesn't have enough of an impact going the grunt stuff to keep our pack balanced. Horwill would give us greater depth, another leader and be a player to help rebuild our pack around. I'm keen if he is!
Yeah... it's ********.
Both George and Walkinshaw denied it emphatically. George will almost certainly want to do more with Souths, and if he does switch codes it will probably only happen after Sam has been successful.
In my opinion it was almost certainly an Aussie journalist making it up in order to pressure the NRL into creating a marque player rule in the wake of high-profile players leaving the code.
Bear in mind that Walkinshaw owns an Australian car racing team, so would be one of the first people an Aussie sports journalist would think of when concocting this rumour.
That's a shame I think it was you that pointed out he would make an unbelievable 8 . Maybe we will see it when these new rulings come in over a second marquee player from outside England .....
Toulon wants another Montypellier 9, an int'l one this time. Jonathan Pélissié. I'm guessing to replace an aging Claassens next year. We'll see if MP looks to extend his contract.
