Transfers rumours

I have heard that Saracens are interested in him and wan't to hold talks. Would be a great acquisition.

Do Bath even have a salary cap anymore disgraceful.

In fairness bath must be getting close to the salary cap now especially with the imminent arrival of Burgess . Still as a tigers fan I shall not talk about other clubs and salary caps :p

I'd rather him go to tigers but much rather him go to bath than sarries . They seem to have a habit of ruining England's best players

Just to confirm: I wasn't being serious when I suggested he could be coming to us - and I think Tigs had his tongue firmly in his cheek when he said that.

Yep I think that's about right lol id like it if he went to bath tbh

Never thought I'll see the day.

Why would Tigers even want Launchbury? Class player, but it would be reckless spending on the second row to have Slater, Kitchener, Parling, Mafi, Deacon and Launchbury... unless they wanted Launchbury as a 6. But then they already have Croft and Matera...

Saracens seem the obvious bet... but if the rumour about it not being the Saracens is true...

I hope it's Gloucester. We have only three locks for next season (Stooke, Hudson and Galarza), lots of salary cap room, plenty of money to spend, and a new focus on beefing up the pack.

Although I reckon Quins/Bath are likelier.

Seems Dragons are set to announce Matthew Morgan from Ospreys and Gavin Henson in next few days

I think Mafi's out of contract, and I wouldn't be overly surprised to see him leave - Launchbury being eyed up as a possible replacement?
That said they've got the depth there that they don't really need to sign someone there, especially someone who would cost as much, and be away, as much as The Berry.

Sarries to replace Borthwick would make sense. He's hardly a like for like replacement, but I think they'd adjust to accommodate.

Mafi has at least one year left on contract signed the same as salvi last year. I did suggest him to tigers as a joke.

I reckon Quins may well be the favourites.

I'm still unclear as to where this rumour that he's leaving has come from?

I think it's fairly clear that Sarries want him, but I haven't actually seen a source for rumours of him going anywhere.
Seems to me that some Wasps fans have just convinced themselves that Joe is leaving.
Or is there actually some grounding for it, Henry?

All I'll say is that whilst this is just the nature of sport now and you had to face up to the reality of players moving, its devastating for a club with such a strong academic through-put to lose its burgeoning talent just as they turn 20/21!
And Wasps don't have anywhere near the strength in depth to be able to shrug off such a loss.

Rats: There's no concrete grounding except the word of two (fairly) reliable blokes who have talked to launchbury himself as well as other players. Could certainly be a load of tosh still. But at Wasps lots of the supporters know individual players well and do (over)share things!

Might help if you had more than 5k turning up to watch... a return to NW London should be the club's priority IMO.
I do mean that genuinely, Wasps were my local club when I was a kid (before I started watching club rugby) and would love for them to come back.
I think some of the residential areas available to your higher paid players would be a very big draw.

Your owners should be looking to latch onto the Wormwood Scrubs redevelopment/new QPR stadium.
It's going to be smack bang in the middle of where you were before you moved, and be served by a Crossrail station - which means it's easy for Berks-based fans to get there.
Some info on that re-development/stadium: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1527593&page=7
That could be enourmous for Wasps in the long-term.

:p

Sorry, that was insensitive of me :p
Never complain in front of a Sale fan - they'll always have worse things happening to them!

That could be enormous for Wasps in the long-term.

Completely agree. I think we have the stadium with the lowest capacity in the premiership. Fortress Adams park? Nah-uh.
When your team are in a bad position in the league, doing bad financially, having players moving about - you want the reassurance of having a good day out a good venue, easy to get to based on where most fans are from. It'll always be fun going to see Wasps play but as a vevnue Adams Park misses the mark.

I can't emphasise enough how the train journey to high wycombe brings me down :p - such a ****e place.

Re Launch rumours - Sarries could play him and Kruis together no issues.

Really, I think any club would want him. Even Leicester - yeah, they've got talent, but better to take Launchbury and shed the others imo

Herbst is now being followed on twitter by a physio at Ulster rugby. Is he a tighthead or a loosehead?

I can understand Adam Macklin wanting to move. He's nearly 25 and behind Ricky Lutton, Declan Fitzpatrick and possibly Wiehahn Herbst on the depth chart. He needs game time to improve his scrummaging.

Paddy McAllister has had awful luck with injuries. He definitely has the talent to go further.

Both apparently. Not sure where he'd end up.

Both Macklin & PaddyMac have the talent to go further and have had horrible luck with injuries which has seen them develop slowly and fall behind others. Completely understand them needing to get out, go somewhere where they'll get gametime when fit.

Not sure FNW will go. Doesn't seem to be need for radical punishment for what he did.

I'd guess he's either going to LI (with Narraway + their historic PI links) or Wasps.
If it's Wasps then that would add some fuel to the Launchbury fire.

Without knowing/looking up their lock situation, I could see him going to Bristol.
He's the kind of player they're signing these days: Latter stages of his career, good performer, lots of experience.
Would be a good addition (alongside the likes of Peel and Ryan Jones) to help either keep the side in the premiership, or get them promoted next season (depending what happens this year) while also helping guide their younger players to build for the future.
