Transfers rumours

Not sure if I've posted thsi before, as it's pretty well known by now but:

Alapati Leiua (Hurricanes) ---> London Wasps.

Potentially one of the top signings a premiership club has made in years. Such an exciting attacking player who can play both centre and wing,.

Australia Sevens head coach Michael O'Connor has called up Paul Asquith to his squad for the Hong Kong leg of the World Sevens Series this weekend.

Better than Dicomidis and Reed. I'd ask Jabby or Darwin for a better opinion, being Otago lads.

Any good?

Haha.

Alright player if you don't mind yellow cards galore. I think he's without a doubt the most carded player in Super Rugby. Sometimes he's goodish - enough to get a test for the All Blacks. He quite a physical player who can move bodies at rucks and is solid enough on defense. But he also tries every match to show why he is tougher than the other players.

Andy Powell --> Exeter
You don't mean the welsh ******** do you ? If so what happens with Ewers because they already have Waldrom coming next season so he will have less game time? Or is Ewers leaving because if he is I would love him to come our way :p

Different Tom Isaacs! ;)

Andy Powell is just a rumour - it seems strange... not the sort of character I would expect Rob Baxter to go for at all, especially considering the recent tabloid ****storm.
Ewers is definitely staying there though.

Can't see the powell thing being anything other than speculation due to James and Sweeney being there - especially as they've got Waldrom on his way.
If he gets a contract (big if) I think it'll be a Welsh region.

Is he quitting league?

Shame because ability wise he would be a asset for most sides but he is just a ****ing **** who I wouldn't touch with a bargepole.

Jarrad Hoeata to leave Highlanders for Cardiff Blues.

As a Highlanders supporter I'm not unhappy to see him go. When he actually tries to play rugby he is not bad - he tackles hard, hits breakdowns, and is a good option at lineout time. I would compare his style of play to Brad Thorn (not his quality of play though..). He is quite versatile too, with a lots of experience at both lock and blindside flanker, and he has even played a season at 8 for Taranaki if I recall correctly. However as Nick points out he often decides to prove he is the toughest player on the field, forgets to play rugby, and just ends up getting penalized/carded.

Lorenzo Cittadini --> Wasps

Robert Barbieri --> Leicester
Leonardo Ghiraldini --> Leicester

Barbieri is a classy player but is he a player they need all that much ? I think a back up for Dan Cole should be up there in their priorities, I know I will get stick for this being a Sarries fan but how can they afford to have these two coming in ? If it is true anyway.

just rumours in Leicester Steve Mafi -----> waratahs (if family issues keep going on)

The signings are a done deal along with Rizzo as well.
in terms of Cap

Barbieri ------> Waldrom
Ghiraldini --------> Chuter and Hawkins
Rizzo ---------> Stankovich

I think Cockers said he will bring in another TH as injury cover if cole isn't fit for a chunk of the beginning of the season.

our front row outside of internationals would be
Ayerza
Youngs
Cole

Bench
Rizzo
Ghiraldini
Mulipola

It would be a shame for Tigers to lose Mafi as he is a great player in many positions. Jesus that front row is powerful and then you have the bench !!! Tighthead should be sorted out even if cole will be fit as he is being overplayed and 2 years down the line he will suffer as a result.

Maybe i'm massively wrong here but I can't see how it really adds up as Barbieri would be on more than Waldrom and Rizzo I would have thought he'd be on more than Boris. The hooker situation I can see how it adds up, but with signings made added to the existing squad I can't really see how it works ? After being told how Saracens and Tigs are over the limit, we lose Stevens, Borthwick, Short and Auterac - possibly De Cock and Joubert and we don't seem to have funds available to replace these players. I then look at Tigers and they are stronger than us and then add more into the mix. I am probably wrong but I can't see it personally.
