Transfers rumours

Well Saffycen

remember when Waldrom signed his current deal he was Leicester first choice 8 and a current England player, so it would assume he was earning a decent wage packet.

Also I think the Italian players have been taking cuts (this is all of them Di marchi, sale etc) due to they head coach saying they should go to the AP.

Were losing this season by the looks of it Waldrom, Hawkins, Chuter, Stankovich, Bowden (offered 300K by Bristol reportedly, Flood (our Captain and 1st choice 10 at the time his last deal was signed) Lamn and Schuster are both gone.

So Rizzo is more ------> Stankovich and Schuster

So

Are current heavily rumoured signings are Barbieri, Rizzo, Ghiraldini, Loamanu, Bai, Peace and Burns. and that's it I believe. Maybe 1 or 2 more if Goneva or Mafi goes.

In fairness when they signed their contract is a big thing I didn't think of, Bowden 300k ??!?!?!?!?! Can I ask is there anywhere you can see the salaries of each team ? And are players who where brought in, like Matera, as long term injury replacements now included in the cap ? Why are the Italians taking pay -cuts ? Surely the Top 14 would want some of these players ? I Know Toulon wanted De Marchi surely they want a better Hooker than Burden and Ghiraldini would suit them. So are all the Italians looking to move to England then? I ask a lot of questions just because I am wanting Sarries to announce something

Well I don't think Sale could out bid the French teams for Di Marchi. and our head scout was saying on Radio Leicester that the Italian agents had been ringing a lot of clubs (how we got linked up with the 4 Treviso players) the past couple of month or so looking for teams to pick up the players.

No all the clubs keep the Salaries secret (it would be like a shopping list for French teams).

Matera will be included with the cap if he stays, I cant remember what it is but I heard they is a reason that Simon Cohen (financial Lawyer wizard) waits till the very end to announce signings something to do with moving cap about see if I can remember.

Also it depends on the this season renewals Leicester have had Allen, Mele (1 year extension), Crane, Benjamin, Slater and Thompstone. whereas some clubs like Glousceter have something like 15 player renewals. I don't know what Saracens position is on renewals.

Is it bad that I thought of Gandalf in a suit,

We haven't released anything apart from Streather is extending his contract, last year we had lots of players renewing but this year seems like nothing

Johan Goosen from Cheetahs to Racing Metro 92

http://www.planetrugby.com/story/0,25883,3824_9234482,00.html

From my 2nd team to my adopted NH team if it goes through. A bit sad for the Cheetahs but Goosen hasn't been able to replicate his 2012/2013 performances that had SA fans calling him the SA rugby messiah since those two big injuries sadly so the Cheetahs wouldn't be able to splash the cash if they're not getting the return on the field :/

Fantastic player but my God don't go to France. They will run him ragged and he will end up injured all over again. I would suggest that he goes to Japan too let his body rest and let him get a run of games in a low intensity league. Then when you have your two years in Japan and money in your pocket go to Europe or a big SA franchise.

As any Irish fan who's been paying attention will know the whole overplaying thing is a bit of a myth. Anyway while I like Goosen and do think he's better off staying in S.A. this would probably be a good move for Irish fans as it could signal that Sexton is definitely leaving Racing at least.

I haven't posted this on Shedweb in case it got peoples' hopes up too much...

I have a theory that Gloucester may sign Launchbury. Don't have time to explain my reasoning, will update this later!

Sexton is adamant he will be staying. Got to meet ROG other day and he was saying Wiesniezki is going and Hernandez is becoming more adamant he wants to be a 15 or nothing so that's why Racing would be recruiting at 10. Also IRFU haven't the money to buy him back

Staying for next season, undoubtedly. However I'm talking about the season after when his contract is up where the I. R. F. U. Don't have to buy him and he'll have a one year old, I'd be fairly confident he'd come back.

Well that I'd agree a more realistic scenario especially as from Racings view a lot more Southern Hemisphere talent available but my question is will Madigan be shipped out. Rumours are he's kicked up a bit of a fuss lately at not being a starter and Sexton will surely be a stumbling block.
On IRFU the main question is what will they offer Sexton and will his value be as high as a lot of 10s will now be snapping at his heels.

The IRFU are encouraging the provinces to look for IQ Super Rugby players. If Ireland could find the next Sean Maitland they would be delighted. The trick is to avoid getting another Michael Bent. I understand the following players are on a short list. They have the required 'Irish granny' and are now being scouted to see if they are up to standard:

Name Position Team
Tristan Moran LH Prop Bay of Plenty
Ross Kennedy Lock Hawkes Bay
Alex Ryan Lock Southland
Michael Fitzgerald Lock Manawatu
Adam Bradey Flanker Hawkes Bay
Brendon O'Connor Flanker Canterbury
Shane Christie Flanker Canterbury
Scott McKee Number 8 Southland
Kylem O'Donnell Scrum-half Taranaki
Matt Saunders Centre Southland
Michael Collins Centre Otago
Kieran Moffat Centre Otago
Sam Monaghan Wing Canterbury
Declan O'Donnell Wing Waikato

Well that's ****ing pathetic. We're the 6 nations champions and we're producing talent at a rate we've never done before. Why is now the time to start being beggars?

@Feicarsinn
I agree with you but I'd take that post with a large pinch of salt. I just thought it was an out there rumour from another forum. It's not like the IRFU haven't exploited the "granny rule" in the past. Recently Tom Denton, Rob Herring, Sean Doyle and Michael Bent were picked up in this way.

And out of the lot maybe Rob Herring is good enough to be in an extended international squad. I don't understand this tactic and I don't like it. We've yet to see a project player come through and break into the national team. Why not back out own?

Richardt Strauss. Jared Payne too before the year is out.

I agree with you though. I'd rather see Ireland invest in developing it's own players that picking up players from elsewhere with next to no affinity for the country before they set foot here.

Rumour from another forum:

Ireland are welcome to all the players on the list apart from Fitzgerald, O'Connor, Christie, and Collins (though I wouldn't consider any of them international quality players). The rest of the players aren't even Super Rugby standard, and many of them barely ITM Cup standard (they would make Michael Bent look pretty good :) ).
