Transfers rumours

Missed the interview and well will try hear link but just heard on radio about some BOD interview that seems to suggest talk are ongoing behind scenes to buy out Sextons Racing contract and bring him back to Ireland next season.
Probably just rumours as it's a lot of money and IRFU don't have that but will check out more

There's absolutely nothing in it.

Send him to Connaught!

Get up out of that Cromwell.

Goodness no, never. That collar is way too 16th century.

Bringing Sexton back would be an awful bit of business. He's not worth that much money to us and given the talent we have he's not indisposable like the Tullow Tank. Also he serves as an example of the **** craic to be had in France. The IRFU need to be solid on the stance they took. They offered him a very nice contract, we got outbid and so he left. We cant sustainably match the French for money. We can only offer them the opportunity to not live in a foreign country with only ROG for company.
After all we have him for internationals. It's like the man himself says. "I may simply be a single drop of rain, but I will remain". Fair play money bags. Some man!
Definately wouldn't want his pouty mug near Munster anyway. I'm with you boys. Send him to Connacht to learn his trade from Dan Parks. After all he won't oust the Geordie Shore, Babyface or JJesus

Do you actually have any idea how the negotiation process went?

I imagine it went something like
"we can offer you this much"
"they can offer me more"
"okay we can't match that"
"right, well my throbbing legal tender erection says France"
There's no way we can match what they pay him. No amount of poor negotiating could have changed that. If he had any sense he would have gone for that money regardless.

To be fair that is way process went. He wanted more money and IRFU held ground. He took bigger deal (not saying he was wrong) and well it's going poorly over there for him. This helps IRFU as he was the "project guy" in that if he was major success and life was great then other would follow.
Also it would be bad business from IRFU point because: Madigan Keatley Jackson and Hanrahan all excellent prospects in their own right. So no need to waste â'¬1m and whatever his wage would be for benefit of extra year. He can come back for free in May/June 2015. Will have long rest and preseason before RWC.
And if managed right.
Should be used sparingly in summer tour to Argentina. If he's brought but why not leave him home.
Autumn Internationals are South Africa, Georgia and Australia in that order he should only play 2 and in both 60 mins so we can test others in that type of atmosphere.
6 Nations then and that'll be it

By the sounds of it the deal they offered him was quite poor. He has said numerous times he never expected them to match the offers from France. What he saw as fair was to be getting the same as Heaslip. As probably our most important player than yeah it was probably fair. Jackson and Hanrahan are good prospects, Madigan and Keatley not so much. None of them are anywhere near ready to lead us into a World Cup. They offered Sexton nearly the same contract they had last time (which had to be topped up by O2) and didn't reflect the different standing he had from not being a definite starter for Ireland to a cert for the Lions a year out. The only good thing to come out of it is that the IRFU finally seem to have woken up and have actually managed to keep players this year. Buying Sexton back now would be stupid but etting him go in the first place was even worse.

He was offered â'¬420k. That's a fact. Now I think some will say poor others will say fair but I just look at it if your offered â'¬750k and have an interest of playing abroad then I think fair play for trying.
I agree none of them alternatives are as good as Sexton my point was from IRFUs eyes buying Sextons contract out isn't urgent as it'd be a waste of a million. No province needs him desperately and as is more Irish 10s are getting more time. Now how he was going to be paid I'm not sure but â'¬420k I know was figure. At time Madigan was flying and IRFU thought he'd do job and it's win/win. As it has gone on Madigan hasn't progressed more and lost 10 jersey at Leinster. Letting Sexton go was mistake but a strategic way of getting him back has to be used. That â'¬1m should be saved and put some toward giving him a better contract

How is that a fact? Please show me a source.

I said buying him out would be stupid.

Just know people who'd know and as I said I'm not commenting if it good or bad but that was what was offered.

Regards point 2 I never said you said anything else was stupoid or trying to argue with you.

Kallum Watkins: Leeds Rhinos/England RL --> Bath

Source is an apparently gung-ho Sun hack - so it could be ********.

A chippy f***er to replace Borthwick? Guess it makes sense - someone to hold fort while their youngsters get more time/grow into it.

Palisson to Toulouse, and Voslo to Toulon. and Jim Hamilton is not a done deal just yet.!!!!!!!! If Jim leaves Montpellier who ever gets him has to buy out his remaining one year contract 150,000â'¬.
