Transfers rumours

Where did you hear that peat?

In terms of how well those teams are stocked at 15:

Leicester: Geordan Murphy, Mathew Tait, Niall Morris (normally used on the wing)

Gloucester: Rob Cook, Morgan, Martyn Thomas, Jonny May sometimes?

Saints: Ben Foden, one of the Pisis could definitely play here? James Wilson, I think Artemyev HAS played here.

Exeter: Arscott, Dollman, Nowell, (Had to wiki this one, didn't have a bloody clue apart from Arscott)

Wasps: Southwell, Wallace, Tommy Bell, Daly I suppose

I thought it might be helpful to see who needed a new 15 the most but it didn't really help at aall! Just goes to show that all the above can get by at 15 one way another, whether or not its with a specialist 15.

But, isn't Geordan Murphy retiring at the end of the season or something? If so, I can see them needing another 15 seeing as Morris plays on the wing mostly.

If Gloucester feel like continuing to spend money I can certainly see Halfpenny fitting in there, especially since its the nearest aviva club to Wales.

I could be wrong but Saints would seem an outside bet as they have one standout fixture at 15 in Foden.

I'd love to see him at Wasps, but I think if there's any money at all, there are bigger priorities such as in the front row.

So just seen the following teams linked with Leigh Halfpenny

Leicester, Gloucester, Saints and Wasps.

Oh, and Exeter.

Popular young man.
9. Robson 10. Burns 11. JSD 12. Twelvetrees 13. May 14. Sharples 15. Halfpenny
21. Cowan 22. Trinder 23. Morgan

...

Doubt we have the salary room left for it though. Tigers would be the best bet for him.

Where did you hear this?

Yeah, Geth is back at the Blues, awaiting the formal announcement.

Oh good lord, that Gloucester backline + Halfpenny is simply outstanding. Clone Jonathan Evans and you can have a copy.

Another forum I use. Some of it's almost definitely ********, but there's probably hints of truth in it.

My personal bet would be Halfpenny to Northampton with Foden sliding onto the left wing - although Wasps would also make sense; Southwell's old and not that good, the others are young and mostly not long term full-backs. Why would he want to go to Wasps though?

I'd love to see it, but I rather half suspect Halfpenny is less likely to come to Saints then them lifting valuable silverware this season.

Surely Halfpenny would move back to wing, as that's where he's spent most of his time as a rugby player?

Just a hunch that the England coaches might be encouraging Foden to see himself as a wing.

Could work either way with Halfpenny and Foden imo. A moot point though, as HE IS NOT LEAVING
In all seriousness, I dread to think what would happen to the Blues if he leaves as well. Basically him and Cuthbert are the only out and out reliable scorers in the team atm...

Halfpenny could be an outstanding replacement for Murphy, but I would want to see him go to a club where he would have duties as first-choice kicker. Bath could be a good move, just unsure of how useful it would be to shift Abendanon to the wing. Doesn't matter; no Banahan ;)

Gethin Jenkins offered 3 year deal with Blues. Apparently likely to sign soon.

Just a hunch that the England coaches might be encouraging Foden to see himself as a wing.

The England track record for ruining players by shoe horning them around should be a lesson learned by now.

Oh dear god.

Would be interested to see Nicky Robinson sign, though, as the article also seems to suggest.

As fat and bald and ugly as Goode is, he is still a very good fly half. Would take him over Cipriani.
