Davies is a wing (he can also play fullback) who has played for the Reds for the last few seasons. He has one cap for Australia - a historic loss to Samoa (he was terrorized by Alesana Tuilagi all match). He is a reasonably small wing who struggles a bit on defense and with physicality, and has struggled with injuries throughout his career. The one thing he does have is pace. He is quick. Like ridiculously quick. I would suggest he is one of the fastest players in world rugby. If teams can put him in space he can be a real weapon....

Bryn Evans is a 2 times All Blacks lock (we were obviously pretty desperate at that stage!). He is a bit undersized height-wise, but is pretty mobile. I haven't seen him for a few years but I imagine he won't be a star, but he could be a pretty solid squad player...

So Biarittz has 'rocket' Rod Davies and Takudzwa Ngwenya for next season...

If rugby was sprinting BO win every time..

Ngwenya isn't that fast.

you've seen that "Habana left for dead" vid surely. And I haven't seen Biarritz play a whole lot this year, but last time I checked this guy is the fastest I've seen yet. Who the fk overtakes *Habana* on a dry straightup footrace like that ?

Meh... I think most people would be quite surprised at who the fastest sprinters are if they saw the team records.

Again... the whole thing about Habana being the fastest guy around is conjecture and hype.
People equate good outside backs with fast sprint speed - which completely overlooks their ability as rugby players.

Sprinting - when fresh, on a track is very different to skinning someone in a game.

Harinordoquy to Toulouse.

Thank goodness for small mercies........I wonder if this will spark his interest back in the game because he had little in the last few seasons for us!! Maybe he just needs to be there to open one of his clothe shops...............

Disagreed. You've seen that footage of Habana grabbing the ball on a counter-attacking within his side's 22, and he sprints from literally one end to the other with nobody in remote contention. Scores the try like it's practice. Absolutely all the opposing backs look like they're really moving in slow motion. His acceleration and raw pace are unmatched (if not for Ngwenya). In fact, although he does possess skill and good vision, his pace is what makes him one of the best wingers ever. I think if anything ppl overrate his "quality" as if he were a whole lot more than just his insane pace.
His low center of gravity, having no neck, being so aero-dynamic. I've seen plays where ppl can't tackle him because he moves faster than anybody else, defenders just aren't used to it. He's right within reach one second, the next he's made the break already and is gone 20m ahead. Yes, he's absolutely that fast. He's crazy fast, crazy quick. And again, he owes it to that for being a great, unlike other wingers who've had to develop a lot more skill (Vincent Clerc off the top of my head who's got tons more to his game than just pace).

And yeah, how about that Imanol to Toulouse rumor ?!

it was just a rumor a day ago, read a bit of the article. So it's done ?!...yeah apparently...huh. Cool ! Could you imagine if he gets to a high level again and plays for France in the next RWC ? hehe...dreaming of course, but he was awesome in that last final in NZ...

I thought Chavanga was meant to be quicker than him ? No doubting Habana is ridiculously fast but he is so much more than a lot of these straight line merchants. He's a cheat.

I assumed them saying it was just pending the medical meant that negotiations were done and it was just awaiting the last formality (although I suppose at his age the medical isn't as much of a formality). Apologies for jumping the gun!

London Welsh have signed:

Tristan Roberts (Bristol)
Nick Reynolds (Scarlets)
Chris Elder (Plymouth Albion)

Let's hope they've got some more up their sleeve!

Carlin Isles is clearly the fastest player around now anyway.
But again...he shows little potential as a rugby player. He even dropped the ball when trying to just touch the ball down recently.

Rupert Harden --> Treviso

Which means that the two Italian teams could be starting the third choice Gloucester tightheads of 2012-13 and 2013-14 (Chistolini, Zebre and Harden, Treviso). Good luck with that.
