Transfers 2014/15

Dan Bowden ----> Auckland blues after a stint in Japan. Wife wanted to go back to NZ brilliant skilful player whose defensive has improved IMO hugely since joining tigers, tackle on o'connor a highlight of mine.

Have you got a link for this?

I suppose he could be effectively taking Willison's place in the squad - a creative option in the midfield to complement the more powerful ball runners (Nonu, Ahki, Saili, Moala), though obviously he is even more versitle. Nick is probably correct though that he may be seen of more as a 10 option. As I understand it the Blues don't have any 10's on their books for next year. You would imagine Hickey will be upgraded to a full contract, but neither West or Kerr are certainties...

Can't find one yet but cockers said on radio leicester last night that Bowden was going home to Auckland and has signed for a Japanese club and then the blues.

Auckland have themselves a great player Bowden was brilliant in the tackle and I will miss him greatly,

Matt O'connor was stupid not to have given more of a shot last season.

David Cherry (23) - Hooker, Currie >> London Scottish
Adam Preocanin (26) - Lock, Ealing Trailfinders >> London Scottish

Quins news:

Nick Kennedey ------> Retirement
Sam Smith -----------> Wuss
[FONT=Arial, Verdana, Lucida Sans Unicode, Lucida Grande, sans-serif]Tom Guest --------------> London Irish
Max Cumpton -----------> Toulon-Super-Mare (Bristol)
Maure Fa-asavalu ------> France (Grenoble I think)

Paul Sackey and Tim Molenaar (what!) are not being kept on having come in as injury jokers.

Sam Smith is going to be great for Wuss next season, if we weren't getting Yarde in then i don't think he'd be leaving. Fa'asavalu and Guest are both losses, although with Wallace and Clifford hopefully stepping up next year things should be better. Shame to see Kennedey retire, hopefully we'll sign a nice bit lock in his place. I barely noticed Paul Sackey was at the club.

Tim Molenaar not being kept on is baffling. Unless its a personal thing and he doesn't want to stick around (doubt it) I can see no reason not to hand him an extra year or two. Its not like we've got anyone else to take his place.

Robert Barbieri and Leonardo Ghiraldini > Leicester Tigers

Leicester raping Treviso. I don't think Treviso will win too many matches next season. They'll have to restart their rebuilding from scratch.
We've had Di Marchi and Mclean off of them as well.
Did anything ever come of the Italians dropping out of the Pro12? I can't remember seeing anything else other than the initial threat, so I imagine nothing came of it - but it looks like it did enough to scare away all of their big players.

I've heard that Burns is gonna be paid more than £225k at Tigers.
Wow.
That's......wow.
Fair play to Burns' agent. Usually when players go to Tigers they take a bit of a paycut (or at least aren't offered over the odds) because of the history/prestige of the club etc. Burns has probably gone up by 100k

Treviso officially announced they agreed a deal with the FIR to stay in the league earlier this month on their website, just absolutely no press in the British Isles reported/noticed it.

However unfortunately for Treviso, their backer Benetton is reducing their funding hence the reason for the exodus. De Marchi, Cittadini, Ghiraldini, McLean, Vosawai, Barbieri, Loamanu, van Zyl, Botes, Williams and di Bernardo are all among those who have left. So that's their entire front row which was one of their most important components of their sides and a dozen other internationals gone.

They are rumoured to be planning a purge of Zebre's better players (Venditti, Sarto etc) to compensate, but can't imagine they will be anything other than cannon fodder in the RCC considering those losses.

Rugby 1823 is a good site for all Italian news for anyone interested in the latest going on there by the way.

loving the signings. Rizzo also coming "from cockers"

so next season our squad depth is looking like this
1. Ayerza/ Rizzo/ Bristow/ Brugnara
2. Youngs/ Ghilrildini/ Briggs/ Thacker
3. Cole/ Mulipola/ Balmain/ Pasquali
4/5. Slater/ Kitchener/ Parling/ Deacon/ De Cheves/ Price
6. Croft/ Mafi/ Gibson/ Matera/ Loamanu
7. Salvi/ Matera/ Barbieri/ Gibson
8. Barbieri/Crane/Gibson/Pearce/ Loamanu
9. Youngs/ Mele/ Harrison
10. Williams/ Burns/ Bai
12. Allen/ Bai/ Heptema/ Pohe
13. Tualgi/ Goneva/ Loamanu/ Smith/ Camacho/ Catchpole
11/14. Goneva/ Morris/ Benjamin/ Scully/ Loamanu/ Camacho/ Thompstone/ Hamilton/ Smith
15. Tait/ Morris/ Scully/ Loamanu/ Hamilton

And with Cole out till November reckon we will be getting another TH prop with the injury cap.

Prefer that depth to this seasons.

Surely Pohe's gotta be in contention for 13 when Manu's away?

Pohe mainly plays 12.

A lot of tigers fans are waiting to see Pohe and Manu in the centres. like a combined weight of like 35 stone, not bad.

I do feel Pohe would be better at 13 than Catchpole, depends how the coaching set up see it.

With goneva, Bai and Lomanu we aren't struggling for 13, but in the AI when Goneva and Manu will be away that will be his chance.

Hopefully tigers will use him before another team try and grab him talks of him going Clermont next season for an player exchange for 1 season like we did with Wells, Balmain etc.

The idea of Heptema 12 and Pohe 13 for the future is imo a very good partnership.

I've got to admit I do want to see Pohe and Manu at 12/13 - simply monstrous... pretty predictable, but very, very big.

I've not heard of Pohe untill now - how did he come to be in the Tigers academy?
Seen he was born in NZ, did he move here as a kid, or was he scouted by Tigers?

Edit:
On googling his name again, I discovered I'd already read this article: http://www.rfu.com/news/2012/april/newsarticles/020412_javiah_18s
and it does all ring a bell now :lol:
