Transfers 2014/15

But Toulon have better wings than Halfpenny anyway, their going to shove him in there for goal kicking though.
Yeah, fair point.
Though Giteau and Armitage are good kickers in their own right.
Further adding to the notion that signing Halfpenny was a ridiculous move for all involved.

I predict a bit of a Jenkins situation.

It was always going to be bloody stupid, O'Connor's going there as well ! The thing is if I had Giteau there kicking, I would rather have Armitage than Halfpenny.

well they wanted to make absolutely sure they got the best penalty kickers and had been on the HP case for quite a while. Giteau's good, but they want the best, they're replacing a very, very reliable Jonny Wilko. Armitage or Giteau or even arriving James O'Connor are good but just not Toulon good with their penalty boot.

And I literally snorted when I read "Halfpenny on the wing".
Man if I'm O'Connor or any winger on that team and they play HP in stead of me, I'm developing a life-time-lasting complex...here and into the next life...I may as well pick up chess. Or gardening.

1/2p made his break through on the wing and was/is a pretty good winger, its just Toulon have better in Habana, Mitchell and possibly JOC.

The way i see it is, they are going to have enough players of pure class to play both the TOP 14 and the H Cup without any problems seems they want to win the first one what ever its called Champions Cup............. forgotten !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember Giteau banging one off the post from right in front?

I would have to either feel confident about my other goal kickers - which I wouldn't out of the ones named - or very cocky for me not to name Halfpenny in a big match. I don't there's a goal kicker like him anywhere right now, really.

Sorry I misunderstood your post as you didn't think he had/cloud play wing.

nooooo, you kidding me ? I'd never doubt, God forbid, that Halfpenny can play winger. That thought alone is near blasphemous, and I'd likely consider mild self-mortification would I just begin to imagine that.

Plus, he's got one killer sidestep and overall athleticism and can run with the best of em on the wing.

That's interesting. I guess Ulster reckon they're going to need another 10 with Jackson away on international duty. Also with Paddy Wallace retiring they could do with another older head in the inside backs.

Has Humphreys been first choice at Irish this season? If so it's a very odd move for him.

The O'Leary Humphreys axis od awesome is going to be broken up? Damn shame

They've actually been pretty decent.
Geraghty has been the far better of the two, though.

Yeah, we're short a senior ten. Better iHumph covering than McKinney or NOC NOC.

Think bar our new Kiwi flanker and new Saffa utility back from Sharks via Agen that's the whole squad, save for any academy promotions - and maybe an emergency tighthead depending on the state of Deccie Fitz. Curious to see who'll get the nod, there certainly needs to be one to cover for Annett's departure but other than that...

I always thought JOC was a decent kicker, Halfpenny is the best probably, but I think others offer more at full back than he does. Anyway the Toulon backline next year (so far) 9.Kockott(though that might not happen) 10.Giteau 11.Habana 12.JOC 13.Basta 14.Mitchell 15.Halfpenny/Armitage

No real argument that others offer more from full-back - but I'd make that sacrifice to get Halfpenny's boot onto the park. And I don't think Toulon woulda paid out for him if they didn't agree.
