Test Match 2: All Blacks v British & Irish Lions (Wellington)

Glad I watched at home as if it gone to the pub I'd be passed out by now. That was a GREAT win but such a hard watch, spent most of the game so frustrated at the Lions. We were so much better at 15v15 and then 14v14. Silly mistakes and some bad decisions but I'm more than happy with the win.

We won fair and square, people can moan all they want but we won and played by the rules, and we could've easily lost playing to the rules of the game. SBW deserved red, no intention to tackle the man.

Would keep the same backs. Would start with McGrath in the forwards, and maybe Lawes. Backrow still isn't functioning at best yet.

Anyway, I'm happy. Seeing AWJ and Liam Williams singing 'Oh Maro Itoje' as they were walking round with the fans was just brilliant!

However I don't see how NZ can complain about exploiting legal loopholes, you guys have been leading the world in that regard seeing what you can get away with.
It can be exploited. It is very possible. Say for instance you get a 'spot pass' (the tackler and the ball at the same time). If you jump and get smashed whilst getting the ball at the same time, you are entitled a penalty just like Sinkler did. Its a way of getting out of a spot pass. Bad sportsmanship IMO but its getting tackled in the air and when the refs at the coalface encounter it, they'll blow a penalty.

Thats like saying a driver like Lewis Hamilton shouldve just slowed down and dodged an accident that literally just happened right infront of him. A half a second? Couple of tenths of a second?

We are going to get smashed next week
Brian O'Driscoll just gave a quote of a lifetime.

BOD "Sam saying on the discipline being poor. He walked around alot behind so seen it from good view. But next week they need to up it and he needs to get stuck in like the rest and not leave it to a ref whistle or poor goal kicking."
Ouch

@themole25 LOL I told you. Read those messages. You brought up jumping into the tackle but we weren't even discussing that. We were discussing a possible loophole due to being safe when in the air. Told you. I didn't want to make you look silly but PROOF is PROOF.

Are you going to provide PROOF? or just talk with no posts (proof). LOL too easy.

Its intentional to jump to catch the ball. That can be exploited that law as Ive mentioned. The balls passed too high, you don't accidentally jump for it :)

Like I said, you could exploit that law. Its not fair play but if you jump to catch, you're safe from being tackled. So if you're about to be tackled and you jump, you could very well get a penalty for your team. Thats all Im saying and thats the truth. You can't be tackled in the air!

You might want to read his first post again.

Your argument is:
Question: do you like chicken nuggets?

Truth: no

Gets called out for not liking chicken nuggets.

Truth: you can't PROVE I don't like chicken nuggets cause I never said "i don't like chicken nuggets." You can just ASSUME that's what I meant.

The winning penalty really concerns me for the future of the game. Red player throws a bad pass, the Red receiver has to jump to catch it and gets tackled. The Law about tacking players in the air was never intended to apply to this, it was intended to protect players jumping for a kicked BALL

How long before we see receivers deliberately jumping to catch passes to make themselves immune from being tackled or to win a penalty. I know that if I was still coaching, The first thing on the agenda for Tuesday night would be getting my backs to practice jumping to catch passes so that opponents could not tackle them.

The answer is don't launch yourself into the tackle presuming the target will be in the place you expect.

Ahhh, when a law goes against New Zealand it has to be changed to save the integrity of the whole game.....

Nope, I have been calling for this change for two seasons, ever since they brought in the "protect the man in the air" edict

The NZ prop could have just waited until the Lions player had their feet on he ground.... Poor timing from the NZ player

Utter bollocks. No rugby player has the reaction time of a Top Gun pilot, and this what is would have taken....

I have gone back and checked...it was three frames of video from the time Sinkler's feet left the ground to the time Charlie Faumuina made contact with him. At 25 frames per second, that is 12/100ths of a second, much less than the shortest reaction time of the best fighter pilots (21/100th of a second). Pulling out of the tackle would have been a physical impossibility.

Ok no more jumping from me lol so 'mole' if you want to have the last say on telling me 'what I meant to say' lol, go for it buddy.

SBWs red card was a huge blow but take nothing away from the try scoring Lions who scored a try with 14 men. The conditions made it hard to score tries and the Lions did well. Back to SBW - I would pick SBW again for the next test. Laumape IMO is not quite ready yet. He knocked it on and I thought it was crucial but we had stuffed up other opportunities after that.

The Lions is the 2nd best team in the world right now. I would have England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland in my current top 6. Its not bad to lose to such a good side who have had to learn to gel in the space of weeks!

Peace out lol.

LOL I knew'd have no proof. Don't deviate from the subject when your losing buddy. Stick to your guns. Remember, you were telling me what I meant lol. You took ages to reply. I told you'd look silly. Silly chicken lol.

Nothing like proof to prove someone wrong. Nice try buddy :)

What a victory. Didn't think the Lions would capitalise on the SBW red card (definitely the correct decision)...

Still shaking, haven't stopped since kick off.

Heroes and Villains from this test?

Comment, like and follow. Also, who would be your two heroes and two villains?

The Crazy thing to me is take away the bullshit jumping penalty and give a penalty (and yellow) for the blatant swinging arm on Naholo and the AB's would likely of scraped through.

And before all the resident nancys get their knickers in a knot the AB's I thought did plenty enough to win this game and actually played vastly better than the lions for the majority of the match with 14 men!!!!

It does not bode well for the Lions next week as I thought even with 14 men at times we were doing it with ease.

Lions 4th after England and Ireland for me, they'd have won more convincingly today.

How? He will surely be banned for next week's game. Crotty is being talked about but even a grade 1 Hamstring strain takes 3 weeks to recover from.

Please play Sexton and Farrell again. Either Laumape or SBW is going to have a field day with those two next week. Im picking 40 points + to the AB's next week to decide it.

This lions team is complete crap. You lot can say sour grapes all you want but this performance is pretty embarrassing for rugby imo.
Do you know what an idiot looks like ? ...............................................Look in the mirror mate.

SBW will cop an automatic two week suspension as a minimum so he is out for the next week and for the Blues match against the Sunwolves

PS: Next week doesn't worry me all that much at this stage. The Red Card was the difference between the two teams... without that, I doubt the Lions would have won.

Laumape it is then. I changed my mind, Laumape is ready lol.

The Lions did their best to lose this week, I have zero faith in there being a victory next week. I have no faith in the management, the gameplan or the selections. Any team against anyone should be comfortably winning in this situation if they think they can best a full 15 man team.
