Scotland v Ireland

Agreed with Snoop. He's a very good knowledge though and well I love his style.

I'd like to see the background coaches answer a few questions. I have no problem with Kidney and I thinks its important to build a squad that can get used to the head coach and build a relationship. I think we need to modern inspiration in the background. Schmidt would be a great backs coach.

But he doesn't want to build a squad! Every time he brings a new player in it's because his hand is pretty much forced. O'Brien, Ross, McFadden, Cronin etc only got their chances through either immense public pressure or injury.

The saddest thing is John Hayes could easily have been the starting 3 in this tournament were he not injured... These are the kind of things that keep me up at night

I think new background coaches that have no loyalties and could challenge Kidney would change that though. I always think getting rid of your coach is the last possible options. One of the main reasons England won the world cup was because they kept the same coaching team and squad for a long time and it really paid off. Look where England are now. Johnson took ages to pick the right players he manged to change his loyalties and now the championship is theirs to lose in my opinion.

Makes a good point regarding O'Gara

Lamont is going to flatten him, so he's going to need one of the backrowers to babysit him, leaving a gap elsewhere for Scotlands forwards to get through

ffs, its not like ireland have had trouble winning this fixture with ROG at 10 before.

Past form counts for nothing, each game is different etc.etc.

Was just pointing out that Ireland have weakened their midfield defence, whereas Scotland have added a stronger runner to theirs

Ireland should do the job. Tommy Bowe is back and its a guarantee that posession lost from kicking errors will be down one million percent with O'Leary not starting. Someone should really take him aside and teach him how to perform a proper box kick.

I've seen pictures of England doing scrum training with Wayne Barnes this week

Makes sense to have training sessions with refs when you think about it, was a little surprised they're allowed to though (not sure why though, thinking about it)

I think that's why england and ireland are doing it with english and irish refs - as they'll never referee a game with the team they're helping, being bias or having extra knowledge/assurance/refs preference/style of refereeing isn't an issue.

Ye I think its a good idea. The players will learn how to use the referee to their advantage and will learn how different laws can be interpreted.

I began frothing at the mouth when I first saw that team

As others have said, it seems as though it would have been more logical to start Danielli and have Evans at 13
However, Robinson will have his reasons for De Luca's inclusion, and he should get the benefit of the doubt (but nae fae CaleyFan)

Com' on you Scots, let's rip the Paddys a new one
