RWC Quarter Final: Ireland - Wales (08-10-2011, 18:00)

To be fair I wouldn't be surprised if Priestland got a try - Scored some belters for Scarlets against tidy opposition

I'll use any excuse to show this:p

12 point win to Wales is my bet. It's a dead cert....... well I'm quietly confident......... I'm bricking it really and dreading the thought it could all be over this weekend. Great to see both sets of supporters backing their own team with good cause. Pity it's not the semis where they are meeting though.

I think Wales will switch on early rather than give teams a head start like they often have in the past with their nototious slow starts. If they do I think they could get away from Ireland early on hence my 12 point win prediciton. Having said that an Ireland win would be far from a shock for me either.

My first post so just wanted to go on record rather than post here after the game. If Ireland win I'll still be back to support the likes of POC and BOD.

Awful bet because Ireland have the best defense at RWC so far and well no team will win by a big margin for certain.

Technically England has the best defence at the WC, followed by SA, followed Ireland (joint with Argentina)

The massive difference with Barcelona is that they have at least five or six players who are the best in there position in the world, and can play world class football because of it.
It is the ability of those players that allows them to play stunning football. For my sins I support West Ham who have always attempted to play great passing football, the problem with that is we do not have the world class players to do it.

For me that has always been the issue with Wales, it is great to have this ethos of open attacking rugby if you have the ability to carry it off. Wales over the last twenty years have had the ethos but not the ability to win playing great rugby. That is what sets most teams apart from the AB's as they in general have the players to do it.

Good man.

Thought Ireland had least points conceded and Englands was least tries conceded. Could say something about the likes of Scotland being in their group but still.

Anyway really happy tha in the two matches where we've been full strength we've only conceded 12 points.

Would that be the Scotland that beat Ireland last time you met or the fact we had two other tier one nations in our group :D

Ooh burn yes the Scotland playing full strength against our 2nd and a half string who only scored a try in the last 5 after dominating possesion. Also we also had 2 other tier 1 nations in our group and an attack that hasn't been kept tryless in years. While Scotland had a back who couldn't perform a simple pick up.

Know your only ribbing but I felt like using a condescending tone.

Well genius, that was an Irish C team that went out to play Scotland in Edinburgh so you might want to check your facts first. Oh yeah, Italy are a tier one nation now, perhaps you missed that aswell.

Not trying to big up th win, but did not more than half of that team board the plane to the world cup?

Wales try scoring record at RWC ain't bad either though. The 12 point margin was based on Wales getting on the scoreboard ticking early and making Ireland chase the game. That's my positive version of how the game could pan out. As mentioned previously, my negative thoughts don't paint such a pretty picture. I'm sticking with my positive version otherwise I ain't going to sleep tonight as early panic will set in.
