Premiership Rugby 2018/19 Round 1

Can't see anything Blackadder had added to bath. If this season goes the same way as the last, Blackadder is gone.

Fair play to Bristol, bath back row all played well but the backs just didnt, didnt utilize the power they have on the wing and tom homer dropping the ball, just shocking from bath.

Bristol did what they needed and Bath didn't take their chances and were too sloppy. However if Bristol play like that and give away that many penalties in the rest of their games, that could be the last points they see.

Blackadder will be gone by christmas.

Honestly Blackadder is one of those Coaches that is well liked but pretty crap, look at crusaders inherited a winning Super rugby team with alot of players still in their prime won **** all, leaves and they are unstoppable again.

BUT that would have been like a Final for Bristol, bath not so much.

One of my kiwi friends said as much a few years back when we first hired him.

As for the game, we were so dominant for large patches and really couldn't capitalise. Taking the points a few times would have probably won the game, especially if Homer hadn't decided to be flash. He'll be getting a right b*****king on Monday, I bet.

Otherwise, I felt Attwood showed up well. His work rate was phenomenal, Underhill defended like a trojan while he was on. We all know he can do that already, but still a positive, and Cokanasiga looked very handy.

I really don;t understand Blackadder's reluctance to use Burns. Priestland was missing kicks and our attack looked very stilted all night, but he never brings Burns on with more than a few minutes to go and expects him to work miracles.

Tigs, it's one of the biggest rivalries in rugby. Last time we were in the prem and we lost to Quins on a dismal evening at home there were a bunch of Barf fans who couldn't help but give it the big one outside in the concourse. Barf forum filled with people desperate to "crush, hump, annihilate" Bris. Of course them down the road will say in retrospect it isn't a big game (they've lost the last two at AG) but it really is, hence their upcoming cabbage patch gimmick being called "The Clash" vs Bris.

Think it's fair to say that the best team won in a tense Derby match which saw both sides leave points out there. I'm sure both will improve as the season goes on. A premiership record 26,000 Friday night attendance was fantastic too, great day out for everyone there and mostly proper rugby fans at that.

I'm not saying it in a bad way.
Just will they have the same energy at like Sale away.

The best team clearly won I'm not denying it. Luatua but in a massive shift.

Think you might have taken my comment about it being a cup final the wrong way it wasn't meant to take anything away from the bris performance.

@Rinkadink - interesting interpretation, 1 person who's been told that his opinions are shameful is hardly "Barf forum filled with people desperate to "crush, hump, annihilate" Bris."
That one person had one supporter, literally 1 person took his side whilst dozens took him to task for it. His one supporter is pretty well known as the biggest troll on Sportnetwork.

As for the rivalry with Bris, it's like the England Wales rivalry - mostly but not entirely one-sided.
Poll on the Bath Facebook page BEFORE KO compared Glos to Bris as the i Portland derby, Glos got 612 votes, Bris got 62. Leicester got a dozen or so mentions in the comments section, but weren't on the poll.
Equally, for the Welsh, England are their biggest rivals, for some English the Welsh are our biggest, but most of us are more interested in the Aussie rivalry, or in years gone by, the French.

I know "alternative facts" are all the rage at the moment, but please keep this board clear of them.

Quins players are arseholes,
Tom Curry takes a knee to the temple when competing for the high ball, he's spark out on the floor and the referee says it's just a timing issue and it's just a penalty, and the Quins players are all crowding round his corpse shouting he should be sent off

Underhill defended like a trojan while he was on. We all know he can do that already, but still a positive

For me what was really good about Underhill was that on top of his defence he contributed a lot in attack - popped up in wide channels a lot, carrying, a couple of decent passes, one nice bump-and-offload and of course the support line to collect Mercer's offload in the build up to the try.

Everyone watch the highlights of the sale/quins game and watch how hilariously forward the pass for Smith's try was
Care literally threw it forward like an American football

I don't know what's worse, our scramble Defence/ability to tackle tapuai or Maxwell-Keys ability to ref a game.
Bothma should have been binned in the first half for repeated off the ball shoulder chargers
Robshaw should have been binned in the second for Quins giving away 4 goal line penalties in a row and Robshaw collapsing a maul on the try line and then slapping the ball out of Cliff's hands when he tried to play the ball from the ensuing ruck.

Quins have been way better than us and deserve the win but this officiating has been appalling

Are you not watching the same game?
The tmo told Maxwell keys to stop the conversion because of the forward pass but he ignored it

If I was being bitter I'd bring up the knock on from Wallace for the first try that was clear as day on every replay but they refused to check

Haha sorry, we've only won 1 prem game since January, I've forgotten how to handle it in a dignified manner

Okay here's a question over the rules, now the Exeter 7 I think, knocks it forward, can't gather, then taps it back to another player. Now I about the ball touching the ground, but that for me seems to be a gray area because the playing knocking it up doesn't actually end up catching it...
