Bayonne have supended Wales scrum-half Mike Phillips until further notice amid allegations off off-field misbehaviour.

Nightlife antics again for Phillips. He's a bad egg that will never changed his stripes.

Again? He may aswell be a footballer for all the run-ins with the authorities he has. He's lucky he's our best 9 at the moment or he'd be subbed faster than he can say "get my lawyer on the phone"

Tut tut tut!

Noticed Bishop got charged with assault today for an incident a while back, as well.

Yeah, unprovoked, apparently. Nasty.

With regards to Phillips, as Iain has said, he is our first choice SH, so what can we do? Hope Lloyd plays like he did last week I suppose.
We have Rhys Webb as well...

I just have to put it out here, what would the coverage be if this was Henson?

If Knoyle can get some consistency in his performances, we can have him instead of Phillips. Knoyle's isn't far off Phillips in terms of physicality, and he's quicker to the breakdown and to distribute the ball, better pass too. He was quite poor last season, but has put in some very good performances so far this season.

We need one of Knoyle, Lloyd Williams, Webb or Gareth Davies to start playing consistently well. All have a lot of potential imo, but they've all been a little up and down, especially Webb who borders on both the sublime and catastrophic on a weekly basis.

What Phillips offers above all of them, is those moments of magic in the big games. The try v Ireland in the WC QF comes to mind instantly, as does the huge try saving tackle against Shane Horgan a few years ago.

Cédric Heymans got suspended for criticising the fans for booing the side after the 35-6 home thrashing to Toulouse.

Would that be a bit harsh? Rumours he may be fired as well.

As for Mike Phillips suspended for excessive nightclubbing, but there's no police related incident to talk of, so I think it is unprofessionalism rather than a run in with the authorities unless further details say otherwise.

Note that the Bayonne owner is a bit of an idiot, so I wouldn't be surprised if this could just be an outburst to make up an excuse for awful form of the Bayonne side.

Bayonne continues to be a chaotic, farce of a club.

Have read elsewhere that he's had an operation on his hand today - thought to be connected to the nightclub incident.

Not true..............his thumb was damaged in training when he was kicked and he was ruled out of the derby before suspension which followed one telephone call from A Joe Public....probably a Biarritz supporter!!

Yep, can't help but think every Bayonne player is better off at a different club.

What do you think the chances are that:
a) Bayonne are relegated
b) Phillips has/opts to use a release clause?
