June International Test: Argentina vs. France [2nd Test] (25/06/2016)

GOT THAT ONE WELL WRONG
0-27 to France. Serin will have a permanent spot for France after both Internationals probably with FTD. at 10, back row not too shabby neither, sort out a good front 5 and send Bonneval back to Paris and there is a back bone of a potential match winning side, but as always i am more interested in TOP 14 than National team but still good to see an excellent win away from home.!!!!!!!!!!
Not really. Flash in the pan. Pumas didn't turn up. And the points i made about cohesion lack of leadership etc have not gone away. They'll be back in plain sight next November and in the 6N. Can't just pick players and hope unresolved issues have magically gone.

so you are obviously the perfect pessimist who is never wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, nobody is saying issues have disappeared but there is confidence and issues can be resolved, but you carry on in your own negative way, sounds all very French to me, C'est les meilleurs ralleurs du Monde Les Francais.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

France will have taken some positives from the 2nd test win, but with caution, because the Argentians were clearly not up for this match - and to be nilled is rare nowadays.
The inherent problems are still there and need to be addressed before the autumn (which of course, they won't have been!!) when there are matches against Australia and the All Blacks to consider.

There is no reason why the problems cannot be sorted come the Autumn, but as no one beats the All Blacks or have not done for a while, concentration on the Aussies ands W Samoa (i think) games should be given the most importance.
There is no reason why France cannot improve in the next few years, being an eternal optimist i do not see why not and also being an immigrant from Blighty i do not hold the continual pessimism of your average Frog, like some on this forum.

That's quite frustrating to hear. Do NZ need to handicap their team? Field 2 roughly equal teams of 'Some Blacks' vs different opponents on the same night, to have games both (all 4) sides take seriously? "Fixtures this Saturday: Scotland vs North Blacks 18:00 ; France vs South Blacks 20:15". For rankings purposes both 'Some Blacks' teams count as if 10 points lower than the All Blacks. (Well, we wouldn't be the first. the Lions split up into 4 teams when playing NH countries ;) )

It's ironic, because Romania is sitting there with about the same rankings gap (slightly smaller), screaming out for more games vs France, and would take absolutely everything into it even though they're practically guaranteed to lose. (I see they had one at the world cup. The scoreline looks like an All Blacks-Wales game! - or I guess I can say an Argentina-France game :D )

P.S. Samoa hasn't had the "Western" in it's name sine 1997 :)

could help all the Nations who cannot beat the AB's but i do not have a problem wit it as i think they deserve every accolade they get as they are that good. sorry about the West but it was west when i visited a 100 yrs or so ago and being old you do get set your ways, will put a knot in the HANKIE
I think losing to the AB's is more creditable than beating Romania and course nothing against Romania.

im an optimist by nature but my personal feelings have nothing to do with it. i'm just being honest. i know this is not for everyone. There is no objective reason to be optimist about the national team. it has become a political bone contention and there is no political will whatsoever to reform never mind reconcile. The club v country is going to go on. Next AI and 6N with the T14 back in full swing you know full well Noves hands will be tied again.

Of course they won't have been. None of the party be it union or clubs is remotely interested in sorting things out. The clubs have nothing to gain from it. They're not going to budge an inch, why would they? this is not their problem. Just stating the obvious here!

so please explain why a 27-0 win has absolutely nothing positive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i cant wait to hear the answer, i'm very glad that we all don't think like you, nothing will ever change!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a miserable existance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just for once maybe his hands will not be tied and he will make progress but then again why would we ever think that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saint-Andre's started his tenure with 2 wins over Argentina. The media were talking the same nonsense into the wins at the time and it went downhill all the way for 4 years because of the political problems. Those same issues are still around. They havent gone away because of a win. it's just an accidental win. They do happen when the opposition doesn't turn up your know That's all it is, a win in a series of defeats. No more no less. You could look at it as a temporary break with defeats.
You're the one saying the problems will be sorted come next November. Good luck with that one. Will the fairy wave her magic wand dya reckon. Anyone with 2 rugby brain cells know this is not going to happen.
Why would his hands not be tied since we're going back into the same season with same issues? you
re the one who believes in Santa not me.

Nothing miserable if u look at it from the clubs viewpoint. The current status quo favours them. They're going to milk it till the end.

As far as you seeem to think anyone who coaches the French XV is never going to succeed, PSA, we all know why he did not, but Noves is another kettle of fish. He has won many champonships with Toulouse and he also understands the way the system works, he was against it many times while at Toulouse, do you not think that he may contest all the decisions made by the FFR, LNR and the clubs. I know this is not easy but you cannot just keep writing the same old stories, about lame excuses and Politics etc etc.I did say the problems will be sorted out by Nov,if everybody plays ball it may take longer, but progress could be made, Noves did not take this job to hit his head against a brick wall i think he is better than that. If the Presidency changes other changes could follow, i believe France will not want to stay as an inferior rugby nation 2nd or maybe 3rd tier, and will eventually have to do something about it, and i have confidence Noves is the man to do it.
Santa bytheway is believed in by millions of children and some adults, maybe not as many, he has not a lot to do with the French national squad but does bring joy at around Dec time we call it Christmas, its a very positive feeling for many peope in times when lots of the population are struggling, maybe Noves could get him onboard to help, but as far as i know he only works from the 1st Dec to the 25th each year, but if he did secure his employment Noves would have two rugby brains, his and Santa's and just maybe things could start to turn around for French rugby.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

He is not the man for the job though. i have posted on this and dont want repeat as points made against his appointment have proven correct.
He isn't getting any traction whatsoever with the players. He was going nowhere in the last 6N. His team finished a point away from the wooden spoon scoring less tries than italy. He got very little support from the clubs incl. his own Toulouse (!) who didn't rest their players in the league before games. He will get same treatment next time again. Have posted on this as well.
i can't see how November is going to be the miracle month. The presidential election is in December and if laporte is elected Noves will be out his job.
if the same lunkheads are re-elected very little will change, it'll be the current status quo which favour the clubs.

So time will prove me wrong, but i am still willing to give the guy a chance, whereas you are not, 2 negatives do not make a positive and as far as i think Noves has brought in fresh bloood and new players, the 6 nations was his first and the team was in pieces, so this next one should be an improvement but with 3 away games, so it will be a good test.Argentina was a good result although you put that down to pure chance or one off as you call it. Come Dec its election time and if Bernie gets in things will change but i'ts a difficult hill to climb for him. I will always prefer Club to Counrty, but i still enjoy watching France do well which we have not had in the last few seasons. So i will remain positive in my thoughts.!!!!!!!!!!!!

So who is the man for the job?
Novès was the stand out candidate and was duly appointed, and it's hardly surprising that immediate success has not been forthcoming, and nobody is expecting a "miracle month' in November - especially with matches against NZ and Australia.
However, there are some new young players who are proving their worth (Serin, for one) and more will follow for the Autumn games and the 6N.

The guy in charge at the moment, Noves but he needs time PSA had 4 yrs and nothing, the FFR will not employ someone from outside of France, he will have to be French so Noves is that man, give him a chance and i'm sure France will be back as a domminant nation although some believe his to be to the contary

The man isn't going to get more time next season. You're saying 'Give the man more time and he will make it' but fact is the system in place is not prepared to give him more time.
Your optimism is nice but is based on nothing

sorry thats where you are wrong!!!!!!!!! my optimism is based on Guy Noves not the FFR not the LNR but purely on the ability of this man to do something right for France and its national squad. Noves has had great success with Toulouse over the yrs last couple of seasons much less, but i still think he knew exactly what he was against before he took the job and as PSA was a puppet Noves it not. So with everything against him i believe he can still bring success and a better French team than before he took over, i am not saying they will win the WC but i just want them to be more competitive and i think he is the man to do it.

You do realise don't you that his club success was obtained in a different rugby era and in an environment light years from the current union trainwreck. You can't just copy and paste club success at test level.
One can see how they're trying to get the backs to play but it's failing because players are coming from different club environment and are not used to playing in club the way he wants to play. You can't just get players to turn on a particular game at test level that they're not used to with their club.
i don't know how the national team can only hinge on one man's shoulders without the help of either the clubs and FFR. it really is an odd way of looking at it and it doesn't strike me as a recipe for success.
i agree that he is on his own as not one club not even his old Toulouse will back him, but that's working against him not in his favour.
The national team has to be everyone's problem or it becomes nobody's problem, somehting the union should reflect about instead of making les bleus their little preserve. it can't be successful if it becomes one man's problem.

ENTREE BERNIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's not the different era or the light years from the trainwreck, it's the man who i think can possibly change things it's not going to happen over night but if anyone can help the situation it's Noves and if Bernie gets elected (thats no certainty) i'm sur they will be both singing from the same page but its not going to happen tomorrow the elections are in Dec, so lots of pressure on the next 6 nations but we will see what happens in Nov.
