Australia vs England - 3 Tests - June 2016

Simple solution, George, Taylor and LCD go on tour (if fit) and we'll soon know who performs best on their own merit. Regarding LCD, I would argue that he carries more effectively than the others and for an England team that has struggle with this recently, it could be a 'point of difference'... I know his lineouts were wobbly but this is something he has remedied, despite comments suggesting otherwise. Exeter depend on a solid set piece and if LCD's throwing was still a liability, he would not play, let alone displace Yeandle who is club captain. Whether his ability transfers to England or it is simply a result of him playing in a dominant team, we will see. I've been impressed by Taylor and George but I think on current form LCD should get the 16 shirt at least. We'll just have to see if Hartley is in the picture as well.

Think EJ is only taking 30 odd players so there will only 2 hookers

Think we all know it should be in order
Thacker
Hartley
Taylor
George
L Cowan-dickie

done and dusted.

Thacker should do a reverse-Youngs and convert to centre.
Quicker and better hands than a lot of our options.

"Err... Harry.... you know when we told you to stop being a centre...?"

"Well it turns out you shouldn't have started smoking when you were 7yrs old. Either move out of the front row or start training as a jockey."

LCD carries well, rucks well, seems at the very least solid in the scrum and his darts are beginning to look quite handy. I get the feeling that TT has the better engine, and I'd trust him more in the scrum and lineout, in open play they're different, I suspect TT has more interactions, but LCD the more impact. It depends on what you want from the player, the pack, and everyone else involved in the pack.

Well summed up, I'd say, Raggs...

In the last stat compilation I did (after Rd. 9) TT and LCD did have very similar levels of "actions", the big, big statistical differential was the metres made + carrying stats (DB + CB, Passing etc.)... where LCD was way, way ahead of every other player.

I can't believe this thread has gone 23 pages with effectively just you English blokes talking to eachother :p . It's obviously getting plenty of interest in the UK - I'm hoping it gets similar interest out here, but I'm a little worried about whether they'll sell out the Melbourne test given how monumentally tiny Rugby is in that town.

Don't flatter yourself, pal.... we'd be well capable of hitting 100+pages for a 3 test tour of Dagestan.

In Rugby, or just anything? :p .

Seriously looking forward to this though in all honesty. It'll do brilliantly in Sydney and Brisbane I'm sure but Melbourne is seriously a strange land... when I was down last year I had a guy ask me if the Queensland Maroons were also taking part in the Rugby World Cup. It's like nothing bust Australian Football exists in that place. lol

I just hope we're not drowning out discussion on Australians' views on the tests, given just how vocal we are over not much, but I'm guessing most of you guys are focused on Super Rugby at the moment.

Well, that and there's a lot more English on this site than Aussies...

Yeah, even over at the Green&Gold Rugby Forum - which gets a lot more Rugby traffic in general than even this site from what I can tell nowadays - there seems to be not much discussion yet about the England series - it's definitely all more about how much the Australian sides seem to have fallen behind NZ in SR.

Is Alex Waller injured, or just not rated?

Also... assume Mullan and Vunipola play some part. Assume he'll draw in another loosehead to the two squads from the four play-off clubs. Who?

I knew there was someone missing, couldn't place who however! Can't see why he wouldn't be rated...

Hepburn for the Saxons? Maybe Genge?

He says he wants the saxons to be a proper development squad maybe Waller is viewed as to old maybe?

From the four semi finalists, the only English Qualified loose heads are not Mako and Mullan, and have actually started games this year are:

Richard Barrington
Alec Hepburn
Ben Moon
Simon McIntyre
Tom Bristow
Ellis Genge

I'd agree Auterac and Waller are hard done by if they're behind 3 of these
