England changing national anthem?

I was just wondering what the general consensus is on here and within the rugby world in general about England using a different anthem to GSTQ for our rugby? Does it look like something that could realistically happen?

Both Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory sound better than GSTQ and relate to England rather than Britain. Considering Scotland and Wales both have their own anthems, it makes sense that England should too. Is this something that is a particularly popular view among rugby fans, especially English ones?

I know I'm in the minority on here of liking GSTQ, but...yeah, I like it. Should stay as our anthem. Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory are both great too, but I still think it should stick.


I don't particularly buy into the "England should have it's own anthem" argument, as England is the "capital country", if you will, of the UK so it makes sense that it's anthem is the same.

As Iron Maidens Trooper is probably out of the running it should be Land of Hope and Glory for the simple reason that GSTQ is the British national anthem not Englands....oh and its crap

Wait... Hold on a minute... The Trooper is an option? The more I think about this (whilst listening to it loudly right now), the more right it feels.

I think the verse about killing the Scots should be sung before every Calcutta Cup game. Especially if independence happens. Would inject some bite back into the games.
