[2022 Six Nations] England vs Ireland (12/03/22)

Loving the unpredictability of the teams at the moment.

Not sure if I agree with POM ahead of Conan but maybe he thinks that we can hang with that backrow and have impact late on.

Super harsh on Mack Hansen, probably a team of the tournament player over the first three rounds. But hard to argue

The squad is in a great place, we just need to step up lIke France and be able to turn it up to world class almost at will.

A bit worried about if Carnberry can finish the game if Sexton goes off but that's a solid team.
Conan and Henderson on in the final 20 could do some damage.

At least with Aki at 12 we'll be playing against 14 for most of the game

Harsh of the Aussie to drop out/not even make the bench - easily been Ireland's best winger

Little worried by how lightweight our pack is. Losing Kelleher, Porter and then dropping Conan for POM is a serious size differential.

Yeah I'd quibble Lowe coming straight back in and O'Mahony sticking. I think mid tournament you just commit and stick with Hansen when he's in this form. You could obviously put Hansen on the right wing for Conway, but I'd rather players be in their natural position against England.

O'Mahony, we will see. He usually turns up very well against England if memory serves, but we're losing a lot in terms of carrying/ probably all round quality. Still, Conan will be some man to bring off a bench.

Neither are big issues for me though.

POM for lineout which lost us multiple opportunities to win in Paris, Lowe to make up somewhat for the weight loss and left boot (and let's be honest, Hansen has done great but hasn't had the impact that Lowe did v NZ).

Faz obviously doesn't think England have anywhere near the fire power France do and that Henderson, Conan and Henshaw coming on for the final quarter could be a difference maker.

Hansen doesn't have the turning circle of a lorry though

Meh, think that's just a "big winger can't cover backfield" generalisation with Lowe. His positioning in the line can be tragic but he's a former 15 who covers back well and usually sends the ball back with interest or generates high quality ball when kicked to.

Under the high ball would be his weakest area defending kicks.

Here are few things.

1. I actually think POM deserves to be ahead of Conan on form. He will offer more in lineout too and is better at the breakdown which will be key earlier. On the flip side with 20 left Conan is the better finisher. Not saying Conan has been poor or anything more the balance is better. Doris seemed to be more influential too at 8 but is Italy a real gauge.

2. On Aki. Henshaw hasn't found his game yet so correct call.

3. Hansen is unlucky but if you watch Italy game he wasn't hugely comfortable vs Italy on the right wing as he prefers to do the traits Lowe does also on the left so effectively it was a call of who is in the 23 Lowe or Hansen.

I reckon we will win this by more than 7.

Should've been Hansen in that case, really
Lowe in the 23 shirt

Slightly surprised to see Randall get the nod again. Fair play to Jones on that.

Just all a bit underwhelming really. Yours to lose, Ire.

How many Eng players would get in a combined team?
