[2015 RWC] Pool C: New Zealand vs. Namibia (24/09/2015)

For Shaggy ;).

Have to admit, after that Argentina game I'm glad I don't have to wait a full week for the next match. It has left me feeling a little flat. If I may pull a heineken - I predict the All Blacks to vent any frustrations on a soon to be savaged Namibia. One trillion points.

Interested to see this lad Jacques Burger, there seems to be a bit of press around him and I've seen him named in peoples World 15 where you had to select at 1 player from a different nation to fill your 15.

Other than that, I expect the guys to run it around a fair bit, gives a chance for Savea to free his legs a bit and get some space finally and find some form or what ever. Fekitoa gets a good run out, TKB and TJ can play, so yeah, a good practice game for some of the guys and some experience in key position we might need injury cover for.

All the best to Namibia, have to appreciate the effort the semi-pro teams put in.

Arguably The Strongest team vs The Weakest team of the world cup. This will help us measure distance from 1 to 20 of the world rankings...

I hope All Blacks go Easy on them.

Can you recommend me a good site? Me and group of mates want to play, even after missing the first round, it will still be fun.

There are quite a few sites that I found. I don't have the links but just google:

Dreamteam fantasy by the NZ Hearald
ESPN fantasy
UDT fantasy rugby (a SA one)
fantasyrugger
superbru
the official rugby world cup one
testmatchrugby.com
fox sports austral usually has fantasy rugby as well and thats a good site although Kiwis aren't eligible for prizes so I don't enter

I'd say joint the NZ herald one. It is the most user friendly I reckon.

The biggest problem for fantasy, or perhaps you can see it as challenge is the fact that it is usually organised in rounds and often you will have to lock in a team without knowing the team lists for the latter games in the round.

Its good fun - I've won quite a lot of prizes over the years. Won a couple smart phones last world cup, a rugby jersey, a couple books, and several cash prizes. I think I;m winning the ESPN TRF league at the moment too, but early days :)

SO Hansen said in the press conference that you can pencil in the guys who didn't take part in the Arg game (with the exception of Naholo I assume). implied the reserves will all take part again, so I guess that leaves a further 8 guys from the starting XV will have to be involved in some form, either starting or off the bench. Somewhere I heard that 3 guys from the starting XV will back up. For me that sounds like it will probably be Savea, NMS, and Kaino (at lock). Team due to be named overnight NZ time I guess.

Team named! I must say it is a very good team. Even though it's against lowly Namibia I am not predicting any cricket scores. The players whose lowly countries have made it will up their game like never before. This is their chance , a life time dream to perform on the world stage . All blacks win comfortably by 40 0r 50 points.
My definition of a cricket score is 70 points and above.
Another prediction if Savea doesn't improve his game he won't be starting in the quarter finals.

Sam cane named captain . Congrats to him . For me he is every improving but overrated . If some reason hansen had to stand down as coach , Sam cane would be an early casualty.matt Todd is a better no 7. As is lamb who I believe has left New Zealand . Arguably Savea is also better than him . Hopefully he proves me wrong !

1. Ben Franks
2. Codie Taylor
3. Charlie Faumuina
4. Luke Romano
5. Sam Whitelock
6. Liam Messam
7. Sam Cane (c)
8. Victor Vito
9. TJ Peranara
10. Beuden Barrett
11. Julian Savea
12. Sonny Bill Williams
13. Malakai Fekitoa
14. Nehe Milner-Skudder
15. Collin Slade

16. Keven Mealamu
17. Wyatt Crockett
18. Tony Woodcock
19. Kieran Read
20. Richie McCaw
21. Tawera Kerr-Barlow
22. Ma'a Nonu
23. Ben Smith

Interesting team. Looks like they don't expect both prop replacements to be used as neither Woodcock or Crockett play tighthead. Again no specialist lock cover from the bench either. Sam Cane as captain is also really interesting; goes to show how highly he is regarded.

He's getting on a bit now but he's like Brian 'The Chiropractor' Lima of the back row..

YouTube videos anyone?

LOL ... well done Nick ... I'll now post to the thread that I couldn't find/didn't know existed, even though I've posted to it previously

... I don't want to talk about that "other" match here thank you Nick ;) ... I hope those guys that are getting their second run (NMS and Savea) make the most of their opportunities; NMH probably needs to move on from dropped passes with the try line beckoning, and Savea needs to continue to build his form. I'd expect that Slade will do the kicking (because his percentage is a little bit better), and that he and Barrett might swap roles a bit.

Burger was pretty impressive in the last RWC, I think the Namibians will come out all guns blazing, but the ABs will take advantage in the last quarter as they tire ... I'm almost too scared to make predictions after the Japan v Springboks game :)

Probably Barrett. Slade is the better kicker, but Barrett will be backing up Carter so I imagine they'll give him the responsibilities.

Will he? I'm thinking that all of the back up/bench positions are still up for grabs, and that they may alternate the back up duties ... we probably have to see a Carter/Slade combo for Georgia at least anyway
