2014 QBE Internationals [EOYT] England

I wasn't aware of that!

It says both Marler and Wilson expected to be fit by the weekend.

Happy to see most of those guys in there!
Can't think of any I'd swap other than Wigglesworth for Robson.
Trouble is that Robson hasn't been getting much time recently on the account of Laidlaw. So far, Laidlaw has had 478 minutes and Robson only 162. He's been an unused substitute twice and his only start came against London Welsh. He is actually playing really well when he is on the field, it's just that Laidlaw has arguably been our best player this season and is needed in tight games for his goal kicking. If Laidlaw were English, I'd be shouting for him to start.

I think Gloucester need to tread very carefully over this. Robson could be a future star of the game and it would be a shame if we underplayed and lost him. I don't see how we can take Laidlaw off though, because he is our best goal kicker and necessary in tight matches.

There are already rumours of Robson going to Wasps/Tigers.

I know I would get rid of Waldrom, bring in Dickinson or Fraser.
Pretty sure Dickinson is still injured though?- Waldrom is a bit of a strange decision, I would have though Ewers could cover 6+8. Mind you TTE is playing pretty well for the chiefs.
Really pleased with these call ups though, especially for Kvesic and Watson!

Thinking about it he probably is ! Yeah I would rather have Ewers covering the large back rower and have someone else called up into the pack like Kitchener/ Matthews or Fraser.

Play Laidlaw at 10 move Hook to 15/13 and have Robson start.

Having had a little digest, I'd love to see this start against NZ:

Marler, Hartley, Wilson, Lawes, Launchbury, Haskell, Robshaw, Morgan; Care, Farrell, Yarde, Eastmond, Joseph, Roko, Brown.

And you know what, back row aside that is a team that has a very good chance of being the starting XV. Happy days.

Apparently he has a thigh strain but should be fit, according to the release. To be honest I'm sure Waller and Thomas would have come in anyway, as there are only four props in the paper EPS. It just so happens both our first choice props are a little sore this weekend.

Very happy Kvesic made it in the end, and that Slade is included. Not sure what I feel about Waldrom.

Still only two hookers though, right? So maybe they weren't going to come in.

I'd like to go on the record as thinking that only two hookers in an international squad's pretty bloody dumb.

Can't argue with that, both morgan and vunipola have looked good this season- any particular reason for morgan preference?
Burrel injury make way for joseph but barritt will probs start, not sure if eastmond will be piggy in the middle of farrell and barritt though :/

Just noticed - I would have brought Yeandle in.

God, yeah. That is insane.

I guess, as Rats says, Yeandle might have been a good shout. Grey and Ward went to NZ though. David Paice is alright (and experienced) as well. I think LCD is injured, but Jamie George i Its not like we need another tighthead, hooker is a position with plenty of possible third choices.

I prefer Morgan's overall game. He reads the play much better than Billy IMO and is very intelligent with the lines he choses to run. He also offers a bit more on defense. Considering how explosive Billy is I'd actually rather have him on the bench and when the oppo and tiring bring him on to expent all his energy in twenty minutes. That sounds terrifying!

I'm not sure about Barritt. I week ago I would have said yes, he probably will, but there have been some interesting noises coming out of the camp re: Eastmond.

To be fair though Robson coming in to the squad would be more about getting experience of being there not playing so it doesn't matter how much he has played . If love Robson to go to Tigers !

Paice wouldn't be a bad call at all - he's a very good player - very skillful, but I don't think he has the physicality for international rugby.

LCD has only played fleetingly this season due to injury, which is a shame, but Yeandle has been quietly outstanding IMO.
Would be the best all round choice, he's got: big workrate, physicality, pace, good darts and scrummaging... and he's been captaining his team.
He's still only 24 (same age as George) too, so would be good to bridge the age gap between Hartley, Webber, Youngs et al. who are all 27/28, and guys like LCD.

There's no end of possible calls tbh. I'd be happy with any of about 4 guys just off the top of my head.

So on Rugby Tonight BOD picked a back line of :

9. Care
10. Farrell
11. Watson
12. Barritt
13. Joseph
14. Rokoduguni
15. Brown

Is it possible we could ditch Lancaster for this man ? Haha

But Lancaster is probably going to pick something incredibly close to that.

Yeh but BOD didn't take 3 years of mucking around .... Haha only joking . I really hope the back line is something like this expecting east on at 12 and Barritt at 13 though

Thought this was the most appropriate place to put this.
I'm still utterly bemused that there is no live club rugby on terrestrial TV - I've been angered by it for a number of years!

Yeah I agree, fortunately I have BT so can watch the games but rugby gets very little exposure. Not that it helps with wanting to watch live games but this site is good for catching up on the full games afterwards http://www.premiershiprugby.tv/

So apparently Haskell lost about 5kg during his illness - no doubt a lot of that will be water, but still... surely he isn't going to be feeling 100% for a couple of weeks at least?

It would have been touch and go for him to start in the first game anyway doubt SL would change the back row . I expect he will be back for Samoa game
