Wales v England

I think Harries will have a better shot when Shane retires, there isn't room for two small wingers (well, in a way there is)
Disagree with Brew and Charteris, they have been given multiple chances and never taken them really.

Well when Charteris and Brew have played for Wales I don't think they've done alot wrong, but they never exactly set the world alight. They were solid rather than spectacular.

Charteris is better than Gough and Deiniol Jones all that matters.

True, but like Bennett and Hibbard, that isn't saying much.
My problem with Charteris is that fact that we have someone 6'9" yet cannot win our lineouts. I hope Ian Evans returns to good form, he was looking great in 2008.

Right now I'd go with a lineup of

01 James
02 Rees (C)
03 A. Jones
04 B. Davies
05 A.W. Jones
06 Lydiate
07 Warburton
08 Powell

09 Phillips
10 S Jones
11 S Williams
12 Roberts
13 Hook
14 Halfpenny
15 Byrne

16 Owens
17 D. Jones
18 R. Jones
19 M. Williams
20 Peel
21 Priestland/Tovey
22 J. Davies

I wouldn't mind seeing 09 Phillips, 10 Hook, 11 S. Williams, 12 Henson, 13 Roberts, 14 North, 15 Halfpenny either.

Looks spot on Draggs. Possibly Hibbard on the bench over Owens, but then his throwing isn't great, but he has got international experience (something Owens should have gotten by now, but as he hasn't.....)

That final backline would be a dream that unfortunately will probably not come to fruition for some time unless Henson shows form and Hook get's gametime at 10, one will almost certainly happen by the world cup with Hook on his way out of the O's, and the other is also a possibility by the WC.

Apparantly Lawes is out for up to three months (this according to the daily mail which is admittedly the worst paper in the world). This swings the game decisively in Wales' favour. Gethin being ruled out for Wales is a loss for general work around the loose, but a boost for the scrum. England loosing Lawes is a loss and a loss.

May seem a stupid question but can anybody tell me whether any of the Northampton guys like Tom Wood or Dowson have any decent lineout credentials?

If this is true then probably a second-row of Shaw and Palmer is our best bet.

I'm not sure about that,
Shaw is certainly a good option for a bench spot, but I feel he's a 20minute player rather than a 60
However, if it comes down to it, then Shaw isn't a bad choice to partner Palmer, you've got the grunt and the lineout there, just hope that Shaw plays well/is more disciplined/has been hitting the treadmill :p
I'd like to see Chris Jones used, he's played for England before, and was billed as "the next Martin Johnson" for a while - he's not at that level, but is a good lineout operator, and offers a bit of grunt (and can handle 6 as well as 4/5)

Though Easter isn't my first choice 8 (despite his good form recently) I feel that he'll have to be the 8 for the 6N, at least until croft comes back, just for his work in the lineout. The guys got glue-hands, his one handed takes are quality
Hopefully Robshaw will take Crofts spot (though if Johnson wants to push the boat out and try Gaskell, then you've got a good lineout worker there :p - Won't happen though, even if by some act of God he is in the EPS, it'll be for a bench spot against Italy)

Edit:
Looking at the stats on the Aviva site, it says that Christian Day (saints) has the top lineout steals this season: Could be worth a shout?
Also interesting that Chris Robshaw has the most tackles this season so far, he certainly puts himself around on the field. So does Tom Guest for that matter. Gah, England has too many talented backrowers :p I want them all to play

Problem with Shaw is that, at least for Wasps hes only a front jumper. That sort of predictability doesn't go far. I'd say Crofts replacement needs to add something significant to the line-out, especially with Lawes out.

No, he bloody well isn't! **** off England, we're running out already!

If I was to put money on this game (which is what I normally do with Rugby games) I'd bet on England but Im not and so Im going for Wales to please their crowd, just.

Yeah, so to all my fans that love my posts Im going for Wales guys.

BBC reckon Deacon, Shaw and Borthwick will all be in the squad - Lets just hope Johnson doesn't read their news site and get ideas :(

Just had a look through the Saxons squad (who are most likely to feature with Attwood/Lawes out rather than calling up someone completely new) and we've got a choice of Borthwick, Deacon, Ward-Smith and Parling, but Parling is injured
Slim pickings =/

So as per usual form counts for absolutely nothing and the same old faces get picked.

I really ******* hate England rugby sometimes.

Wait, Lawes is out for a bit of the Six Nations?

Bring back Deacon!

Well in that case my England team would be:

Payne
Chuter
White
Borthwick
Deacon
Moody
Worsley
Haskell
Care
Goode
Varndell
Hape
Banahan
Sackey
Balshaw

I think Johnson would approve.

I hope Ireland start John Hayes in all of their matches >=(

As much as it pains me to say it, Varndell actually seems to be improving.
He's not an actual rugby player yet (just a sprinter that turned up to the wrong training sessions) but going on the Quins v Wasps match the other day he gets stuck in more than he used to
