Wales v England

Hmm. Interessant. I'm not specifically a Tindall fan but I don't really object to him being in for the Wales game at least. For every douche-bag such as Haskell Care and Banahan you need someone with some sense and more experience to counteract them and I think he's got that.

I think against the raw skill of say the French backs I'd rather meet that with some of our own(if we have any), but against an unsure of itself Welsh side I'd be happy with Tindall for some solid containment and sensible play.

The Welsh back 3 man for man are baked on toast. However, Jones-Roberts-Hook has a lot more to it then Flood-Hape-HMS Banahan.

So the Welsh outside backs will actually be given the ball from time to time (but do f-all with it), while the English outside backs will only ever see the ball when it gets kicked to them but actually be effective in return.
Are Shane, Halfpenny and Byrne playing for Cross Keys or something? I was under the impression they'd won Grand Slams and been on Lions tours and ****.

You said it!

For the record I think the Welsh back three (well, wings at least, Byrne's a bit poo atm) are class

Tindall being VC (and now in the absence of Moody) captain pretty much guarentees him the 13 shirt. While this is good as it keeps out HMS Banahan, I'd still like to see someone else come in for him (maybe someone could slip Hape some ex-lax and they could bring in Barritt/Tuilagi?)

I don't understand why Easter wouldn't be captaining, unless Johnson is considering not playing him? Which means either Haskell or Dowson is being strongly considered for 8 (more likely Haskell, unfortunately - though he did do the job this time last year)

I ask again, is Ashton definitely fit for this game? He didn't play in the last two Northampton HC games, so it doesn't look all that clear cut. There's been nothing in the news to say either way.

The quality of the Welsh back three depends alot on how Byrne plays. Halfpenny has been on fire since returning from injury, and Shane is Shane. Current form suggests England have a slight edge there, mainly due to Foden, but I think it'll be quite equal on the day.

My final hand-in for my dissertation is on the afternoon of this game. So I'll be free to go out to a pub and get rather merry. Happy days.

Aye, i've not heard anything either way so I'm taking that as good news, as it probably would've been reported if he was out (Tindall was all over the newspapers when he had a dead leg)

He was rested because of the injury picked up before the Leicester game. By all accounts he's fine now so will play.

So's Tindall, Vickery, O'Connell, Hayes, Cohen, Henson & AWJ,

What's your point?

Well after a week of stressful searching and long distance phone calls I've finally sorted my tickets for the game (original "supplier" bailed on me last minute, and left me high and dry). I can't wait for this game, I'm on edge. Gonna be a fun experience for me, taking my gf with me; so there will be a huge clash of nationalities on friday (she's from the "other side of the bridge").
This is gonna be a make or brake game for Wales' championship. If we win the game then a huge domino effect on the rest of the tournament. Huge confidence booster. Bring on the team announcement :D

That they're all actually quality and proven players; whereas you're making them out to be a bunch of bell ends, and I'm not having it!!

Tomas O'leary:D

Anyway I still think The welsh back three is dangerous (apart from Byrne). Williams has individual spark and Halfpenny is maturing. I just think the backs do not link up well.

Some very good players there actually. I don't see how that post helped your point. Quite the opposite really.

How is Alun-Wyn Jones past it? He's 25 and playing bloody well again!

Olly said that the Welsh back three was shite in jest. Cyril replied that they all had all been Lions and grand slam winners. You then said so had Vickey, AWJ, O'Connell etc. I then said that those players were not shite. You replied that they were all well past it. I therefore inferred that you must think the Welsh back three must be past it, otherwise you would not have compared them to the Lions you mentioned.

Byrne is past it. Jury is out on Williams. Halfpenny isn't.

Not sure what baring that has when he uses "lions and grand-slam winners" as the basis of an argument so I point out formerly good players who that ***le also applies to.
