Transfers rumours

Ah dunno. Leavy or VDF could become our 7 allowing SOB to revert to his best position. Or if Toner & James Ryan were in the row, Henderson could be at 6.

Agreed on more important than D Ryan and far more important than Zebo. But not irreplaceable IMO.
No player is irreplaceable

Big news leaked.
Furlong contract talks not going to plan.
Stander as I reported not getting a CC.
Henderson still arguing his case and like O'Mahony.
Ringrose told he is only getting a provincial deal.
Rob Kearney and Tommy Bowe deals up and massive pressure on IRFU to not give either a CC.

But overall the IRFU are under pressure from all sides.

Also Andy Farrell is our defence coach on part time basis until a coach is brought in

Ranking need to keep out of 10.

- Absolutely need to keep Furlong, best 3 in world at min (10/10).
- Are alternatives to Stander, in both Munster & Ireland (JO'D), (5/10).
- Need to keep Henderson, for both Ulster & Ireland (8/10).
- Ringrose too young for CC (2/10) and loads of competition for place in Ireland, not so much in Leinster.
- Bowe definitely not worthy of another CC (0/10).
- Kearney not really worth of CC, unless its pay for play (4/10).

See on wider range is Henderson as vital seeing as his injury record is similar to POM and there are alternatives. Also JOD is nowhere near ready to replace Stander.
But what we are seeing now is pressure for IRFU to restructure approach and allow outside funding

There is one alternative to Henderson for Ireland, he is 21 years old. Not a well resourced area. Ultan Dillane didn't look to be at the races.

Also JOD is nowhere near ready to replace Stander.

Maybe not for Ireland. That'd be Jack Conan. But for Munster, he's good enough to justify the gametime.

No we really don't have anyone capable of replacing Stander. No one else in the pack can carry nearly as effectively as him and he's probably our main weapon for short yardage.

Furlong will stay, he has the IRFU by the balls.
CJ not getting a CC is odd, I'd give him one ahead of PO'M, the man seems to love Munster though so if some outside investment is allowed like it has been we should hopefully keep him, he's a much better player than Conan.
Hendy is in a similar position to Furlong but I imagine like PO'M, he'll look at a good chunk of money being offered and his poor injury profile, realise he's not of the same value as Sexton or a fit Heaslip and stay.
Ringrose should totally be on a CC but I imagine Payne is holding it? He's still studying and just has to look as far as Moore or Madigan to see moving abroad young isn't of great value so I see him staying regardless.
Bowe shouldn't be on a CC, free that spot up for Stockdale.
RK will get one, Schmidt will demand it, injury another factor for him staying too.

The Munster backrows are the only risks I imagine, probably only CJ at that but a one year contract and a retirement plan in England or France are surely more lucrative.

Jack O D nowhere near ready at Munster to replace CJ and Conan nowhere near ready for replacing at Ireland.
I'd argue Kleyn, Beirne, Ryan and Treadwell all capable of replacing Henderson in same row.
By sounds of it he is heading down same route as POM in negotiations.
Ulster Munster and Connacht have all called again for equal distribution of CCs. It's not the right solution but a change is needed I think.
Also word is there is pressure on from provinces to lower guys wages. I think the fact Ringrose for example is getting no CC is example. Also must add Henderson and POMs deals on table are reductions on their current deals

Will RK accept lower deal though. Finanial side seems to be screwing IRFU a bit

Liam O'Connor reportedly being offered 3.25m with a chance to rise to 5.5m if gets 60 interceptions by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Stander reportedly has a big offer from Toulon and Saracens are keeping an aye on him
As Groundhog said it's silly season with contracts. But on CJ he's bought a bend new house last Feb so can guarantee he is going nowhere. It's always silly season and haggling up until Jan 20th.

On other side Doug Howlett has recentl taken a more active role on Munster PAC here and is confident in Julian Savea arriving

Mad to think he'd be happy to play behind Earls and Sweetnam!

Hey if we got Savea we'd have had three of the top 5 All Black's try scorers play here. Honestly give me a choice between O'Mahony and Savea I would choose O'Mahony every time.
