Transfers rumours

Maxime Mermoz is close to joining Leicester on a 3 & 1/2 year deal and will join sometime this week. Defiantly a position where we need to strength, I've always rated him.

Funny old world when we played Tigers 2 seasons ago H Cup, he was at the after match reception where i saw him, ( which was excellent) we did have a chat and i had an idea that he was looking at Leicester as a possibility, so it happens 2 seasons down the line. Excellent player and will do Tigers no harm although they seem to always have a liking for a Frenchman per season, good luck to him

Donncha O'Callaghan is a physical freak to still be playing in such an attritional position. Clearly a guy like Heaslip who are so intelligent about looking after their bodies. Reading Paul O'Connell's book he described Fla and Donncha as the two fittest and most professional guys in the Munster glory days set up. It's really paying dividends for him now as he's outlasted everyone except Stringer in the sport.

Longevity is not uncommon among second rows, given that the position relies on size and strength more than speed, which fades quicker. That said, DOC is still taking it to impressive levels, like Brad Thorne and Simon Shaw before him.

The man doesn't drink or smoke. Trains 12 sessions a week even in summer. I agree on what you say about position but his attitude and professionalism is brilliant

Definitely impressive, but surely not smoking can't be that noteworthy among professionals? I'm sure there a few who have the odd social smoke but it must be a minority?

No but it's basically way he's developed his lifestyle from very young age.

Goode to Toulouse

Wigglesworth to Toulon

First seems more feasible than the latter, don't know if either make sense

That would be brilliant . Not sure about the full back stocks but to have Spencer playing all the time for Sarries would be great for England imo

Toulon love Sale players from that era.
Lewis-Roberts, Schofield, Lobbe, Bruno, tried to sign Charlie and Robinson as well.

That also explains his healthy mane of hair!

It would, but they'be already been linked with Pienaar and Stirzaker.

Spencer can comfortably compete with Stirzaker, but if Pienaar joins Sarries, I'd imagine he'd be first choice.

Shame it ll only be promotional crap for the NFL.

100%

Dunno, could play anywhere from 13-15.

If he had grown up playing rugby then I imagine him running from FB would be awesome - breaking first tackles like Brown used to, but having significantly more pace/power/feet.

The BBC are reporting that Tom Arscott has been sacked by Sale for allegedly leaking tactical information to Bristol. Somewhere, many lawyers are rubbing their hands together with glee!
