Transfers rumours

Rumours (not sure how true - I'm guessing "not very) saying that Parisse is leaving France to play in the Aviva Prem.

Will never happen Olyy. His missus is based in Paris and he is to connected to that club and they build everything around him. Add in I'd presume a major drop in cash coming to UK

Exactly my thoughts - can't see any reason he'd go to the Aviva when pretty much any/every club in France would want his signature.

Sale officially targetting Dan Bowden (mentioned above, I think) and also Russian London Welsh lock Kirill Kulemin.

He could get similar money if he became a team's marquee player, maybe. But still, why move? I can't see it being that he wants to move for the location...

Ueleni Fono (photo) will leave Agen in June - the back row Tongan player (30 years, 1.95 m for 105 kg) should be joining the Biarritz Olympique.......

Please M Blanco...it is backs we need!!

Only thing I can think is maybe his Mrs wants to switch Paris for London for a year.

Here's another possible reason

Top tax rate in France = 75pc

Top tax rate in UK = 45pc

He will have more money left after receiving £200k here than he will receiving the equivalent of £400k over there.

Imagine tax avoidance is easier over here if so inclined as well.

That's an interesting point Peat, not just about this Parisse rumour, but about how luring the money offered in France really is.

Even if the clubs in France can afford to pay players double what they get here in the UK, does the player actually see any more of it?

If your earnings are over a millon euro........................
Parisse in UK................best laugh in ages!!!

So maybe not quite as interesting as I first thought. What are the other tax brackets like?

Thanks Tony. Not much difference then, as from the 6th of April the Tax in Britain on anything above £150,000 is also 45% (was at 50%, stupid government, why reduce?). I know the exchange rate isn't 1:1, but it makes little difference.

That would be a great signing. Has great pace and an exciting player and finisher and considerable experience (was a first team starter at the Highlanders for a while) and I've always been impressed with him playing for Tonga and he of course scored a great match winning try vs Scotland last November. Plus he wouldn't cost that much coming from a lesser team and lesser nation. An improvement on Amesbury.

Actually, disagree.....believe that lower tax rates = entrepreneurs = more jobs = less benefits and more tax. Winner!

OK some rich barstewards get richer but is that not worth more people being employed in proper jobs - and not just State created ones that the decreasing number of taxpayers have to fund just like benefits?

Absolutely false rumours. He is contracted until 2016 (http://www.espnscrum.com/timeline/rugby/story/156209.html). No reputable news source has reported anything. Probably just a rumour started by him being on a fans wishlist.
Contracts can be broke in rugby and if he wanted to go I'm sure Stade would let him but again I don't see what team he'd go to and I don't think there's a team that can afford him like yes he could be a marquee player but I'm sure his wage would be on par with the Carters and Wilkinsons and I don't think he'd leave Paris anyway

That's a really big tax jump at the million mark! Won't affect rugby too much, but we might see some club owners tightening the belts. That said - what about endorsements and international match fees? Also, I'm guessing his missus won't be pushing top rate either.

French football's ****ed tho.

As this is very, very off topic, I'll try to keep it short. The only tax relief's I want are for businesses (including the large corporations) that are at risk of moving abroad. Reducing tax on all individuals that are earning over £150,000 does nothing but take money out of the pot, and make those rich individuals richer. At the same time the government are cutting public sector funding left, right and centre, with many of the services becoming worse as a result, and hard-working individuals losing their jobs. I've had the displeasure of dealing with the Job Centre recently, and they are so understaffed due to recent cuts and the merger with the dole offices, that the service offered to people who actually want jobs is non existent, as all their time is taken up dealing with the f***ers who don't actually want to work. Ironic to say the least!

If we want to encourage entrepreneurs, then offer tax breaks for their companies, or even low cost loans or even grants for new businesses, or businesses looking to expand. Footballers who are on £100,000 a week salaries now pay £260,000 less in tax per annum, whilst tax for struggling lower income people has increased. Another reason I hate this f***ng government!

While I can't confirm where he actually stands, I know he wont be in the top 5 best paid in France next year. Oh, on that, you'll never guess who tops that list...
