Spring Tour: South Africa v England -3rd Test. (23/06/2012 16:00 GMT)

wonder what a fit and able Piet van Zyl and Johan Goosen could have accomplished as a 9 and 10...

On the Morne Steyn thing - I was confidently expected Pienaar to start, based on this very point; a controlling scrum-half, as du Preez was, and the natural foil to Steyn. I was also surprised that Steyn continued to take kicks when you've got Pienaar, who's been kicking excellently in difficult conditions all year, on the bench. Instead, same thing for all three tests... Was Meyer the sort of man who took an idea and never changed at the Bulls? I'm very interested to see what he does next.

Wel, Goosen was injured (and would have been drafted in for the u20's if he hadn't been) but I agree with the sentiment and for me its more about the experience they'd have gotten rather than the accomplishment as such.

We are stuck with the Bulls 2007 gameplan I'm afraid. I can handle that if we add to it; get some more dimensions to the plan of attack. Here's hoping we can.

was that not evident in the first 2 tests??

basic uncompromising rugby with a little bit of flair... I think Heyneke already showed that we can add to the plan.

I think we all should not take much out of the third test, bar Morne Steyn's dismal performance. It was a dead-rubber match, the guys just tried to play it out without getting injured so that they can continue their next conquest, Super 15 and Rugby Championship as we already had this tour wrapped up.

I'm getting a bit annoyed by everyone saying things about Pierre Spies, he made the third highest amount of tackles for the Boks with 10, but didn't miss one tackle... Wynand Olivier made 11 tackles without missing one and Marcell Coetzee made 12 and missed one. Furthermore, Spies won the most line-out balls for SA and eve stole one on opposition throw.

You guys complain that he's just a showboat and is only good when he has the ball in hand with an open space to run, now when there is none, and he plays a lot more tight, which we all know is not what he's used to, you still are not satisfied with him?? what more should this guy do??

He should stop running sideways whenever he gets the ball, that guy is massive and should be using it to his advantage, and sadly he doesn't! Just look at SBW(they seem abwt the same size) and Willem Alberts. And everytym he gets tackled he just doesn't even cross the advantage line, always gets stopped!

Unfortunately there was no flair in the first two tests either, it was just bash it up, bash it up and hope it works! No flair in that, definately won't win us the 4 nations!!

I guess heineken, you tell us what is difference between a player like Spies and Vermeulen and the way they play 8th man - sure it will answer what we the public expect from someone build like a demi-god and the power of Hulk

Yeah well, Vermeulen is injured so we won't know until November when we play England again if he would have been a better no.8 had he not been injured...

Morne Steyn getting boo-ed :D

SA fans are pathetic!!! morne has been palying crap for years but no-one complained cuz he kicked goals, now that he is missing kicks and exposing himself people are realising, hey this guy is crap, he is not contributing at all...

now i bet you... if morne slotted 1 more kick, ensuring a win for SA, it would have been diff.... no boing....

funny ne... win at any cost mentality... killing the game... yes and bite me cuz it's true...

hell even Mallott said at half tiem what i've been saying about the bokke "stampkar" mentality, well not in so many words ;) but it boils down to it ;)

lol

You talk like you are the only one who has noticed over the last few years but I think 99% on TRF came to the same conlusion even before Morne Steyn played his first Test. But hey, congratulations Captain Obvious!

can't you just ban the twat?

why? for saying the same thing as you guys are???

truth hurts, esp when coming from the opposition ne...

i've been saying this since last year, drop steyn and play lambie or jantjies... big loss fot you guys with goosen injury

cuz i feel he is the best flyhalf in the country, followed by labmie en jantjies, steyn is last on my list...

omg Icemn's pimp released him from duty on the Cape Flats, sad sad day

Opposition? So you're English now hey? You really feel Goosen is the best fly-half in the country? I think Lambie is a better option though since he has a wider variety of tricks up his sleeve. Goosen is still young and needs time to develop.

I've never been so ashamed to be part of the home crowd. I hung my head in shame when the other supporters were heckling the English kickers and felt even worse when they started booing Steyn.

Absolutely pathetic. If this is the level of supporter that comes through then we definitely don't deserve a Super Rugby spot.

It was shocking, you'd have thought SA were the away side with the hate directed at Morne. It is obvious that he's not the man to play at 10 but still the reaction to him was terrible

Judging from SuperRugby form, Goosen was the standout flyhalf behind Lambie to me of the South African first fives. I believe Goosen would do well in a Springbok jumper and wouldn't look out of place at all. He shows a hell of alot of "match" maturity when he is on.

Goosen is a good fly-half and definitely one of the biggest surprises so far in 2012 but he misses the vision to really make decisions for 80 minutes at top level. It is difficult to choose between the 2 but Lambie to me, and a lot of others, is the natural successor of Morne Steyn.

We have a lot of talent. All we need is a coach to use it.
