Spring Tour: South Africa v England -3rd Test. (23/06/2012 16:00 GMT)

Yes i agree, for the Locks for me Parling has been great his work rate and tackles he made (just needs to be more muscular he looks like a giant beanpole at times lol)
Lawes and Parling.

Flankers is a big debate for me - Robshaw and haskell get it for me. But so much quality like Croft, Johnson and Wood. Is it me but i really like the look of Johnson i think he can be a quality find for us definately needs to be on the bench.

I still have Morgan over waldomy at number 8.

backs i have Goode i really like him he gives us good kicking ability others i think depends on who is in form but want to see Brown again i thought he was a good find.

In a back-row involving both Robshaw and Haskell there would be plenty of flexibility - they can all play each back-row position well. Wood's a proper 7 but can play 6 too if needs be (see six nations 2011!) I think he offers a more rounded game than Johnson.

Also Foden is our best full-back and is a nailed-on starter.

I think Haskell and Johnson are fairly similar players, except Haskell is much more physical.
Happy with how Johnson has performed, though, and more than happy to see him come in to the squad in the event of injury. He oozes heart/passion and really runs himself in to the ground on the pitch.
To coin a football cliche he "gives 110%".

I have to confess not seen wood much in club rugby, but is he a better number 7 then what robshaw has been playing? i know he has played number 8 in the past.
I like the combination of Haskell and Robshaw.

Let's put it this way: Robshaw this season was the players-player of the season playing at blindside. England played him openside because they always have to know better.
Last year Wood was players-player of the season for being an openside. So England play him at blindside.

Personally, I hope he never plays for England again. More time in a club shirt...

Banahan is useless on the wing, so play him at outside centre!
He'll get more ball and be useful, of course.

Still think Seymour should get a crack at the 7 shirt soooooooo..........

I've been impressed by Robshaw at 7. He's not a 7, but he's the best 6.5 I've seen in a while (Haskell does well as well, but Robshaw overtook him this tour).

6. Haskell, 7. Robshaw
6. Robshaw, 7.Wood
6. Wood, 7. Robshaw
Etc.
When everyone's fit we've got a number of combinations that would work well. Though a Wood/Robshaw would need Waldrom or an on form Morgan as a ball carrying option.

What happend to Morgan? He was outstanding in the 6 nations. Englands most consistent performer back then in my opinion.

I didn't think he was particularly bad this tour, was certainly underrated by most. The Boks just knew how to contain him is all.

Want Morgan returning from injury too? Lack of match fitness will be a big factor.

6. Robshaw
7. Armitage
8. Haskell

19. Morgan

That would be my ideal pick, it doesn't look like Steffon is coming into the England setup any time soon though so I'm content, if not happy with what we've been playing. Haskell has really improved from what I remember, although I'd like to see him carry a bit more regularly.

Watching the extended highlights of the game again just makes me more irritated by that result. I feel our attackign execution was far superior in the six nations 2011, even with the worst ever centre combination of Hape and Tindall.

Skip through to 10:11 and see the space Danny Care had to work with. That should be a certain try everytime with those numbers. Credit to Morne Steyn but Care should have kept the ball deeper, away from the defensive line. Probably his biggest mistake of the game.

Also Johnsons decision to come up out of the line for The South African try was very poor. Small margins, costly mistakes.
