[RWC2019][Quarter-Final 1] England vs. Australia (19/10/2019)

A good game for the neutral and pretty bang on with most folks expectations I think. Englands ability to convert possession into tries from open play is why they are my red hot favourites overall.

I cut Cheika a lot of slack. He clearly knows he cannot compete with England in physicality and set piece, so he doubles down on the tactics of retaining ball in hand, playing rugby from deep in their 22 and giving their backs as many touches as possible to try and conjure some magic. And at 17-16 these tactics might have worked against an England with less self belief instilled in them.

I'd take Cheika in a heartbeat as coach of any side, barring the ABs (who have the pick of the litter coaching wise). The record shows he lost to Wales and England and got sent home, but he is operating within significant constraints in terms of playing talent and I think the Wallabies can leave without their tail tucked between their legs.

Well played England. EJ had Cheikas number and everyone knew it.

How are you going to win a game of rugby if you can't exit your 22? Idiocy.

I hope we get a good coach in because we have a real talented bunch of players that are being held back by genuine idiots.

You should be hoping for Dave Rennie. He's done wonders with less talent than you guys have.

Well the Irish are confident of beating NZ because they've beat them twice recently,
We've beaten Ireland twice this year so we should cruise it
Honestly. If we win today I'm fully expecting a limp exit next week to you guys.

Good win, few too many pens but excellent defence overall.
Aussies crazy playing so much in their own 22, Skeen's an idiot.

And wtf was Ben Kay talking about when we got the pen with 8 mins to go? "England 14 points ahead so they should go for the corner" dick!

Serious question: Do Australian fans want Eddie Jones back ? He's doing pretty well with England.

It's a big turnaround for Wobblies since the last RWC. Cheika got the absolute most of them in the last RWC. Pocock is a shadow of the player compared to 2015. Sad to see him retire on that note.

I fear for the Wobblies going forward.

Fraser McReight poised to take up Pocoks slack. Remember that name.

Na, they'll be back. Their forward pack is actually pretty good, their centre combo is good there with Kerevi and Petaia. They need a genuine 10, and another winger to go with Koroibete.

Disappointing world cup for Aus. Their worst ever?

Better cap him soon. With a name like that the Scots will be taking an interest. ;)

really? That's why they have struggled in the last 4 years and this World Cup. Their forwards not giving the backs enough front foot ball. Then there is the defence....

My SCW bingo card is full. 'Drop Goal' should really only be half a stamp

They have Pocock and Hooper who are great but I honestly couldn't tell you who the other 6 are.
