RWC Quarter Final: Ireland - Wales (08-10-2011, 18:00)

Wales written off

What?

People talked how the big time Irish players with all this experience would bully Wales

I think I can recall most if not all fans saying this would be a close/great game. Most people said it could go either way, Wales were far from 'written off'.

It's a little early to be drinking anyway.

'ere mush

Wurzels are from Zummerzet, formed in Nailsea, the town where I have spent the last 8 years living in.

I'm so delighted, proud of the lads. Don't really know how to react if I'm honest, well except from stocking up of beer and getting shitfaced.

"And we were singing, hymns and arias, land of my fathers, ar hyd y nos"

What a performance!!!! Was on the edge of my seat for whole game.
Huge performance from every single player in that welsh jersey - even jon davies ;D shaun edwards must have a huge pat on the back for that defense!!

Couldn't understand ogara kicking away posession when they were on the frontfoot! O brien was very very quiet, a lot to do with the welsh backrow playing amaingly!

Bring on the semi =D (am i only one who fancies england??)

Credit to Wales and best of luck for the rest of the tournament.
Had a superb defense and executed a well tuned gameplan to perfection.

Was questioning Priestland up to the game on experience but he was excellent and well stood up. And fair play to the Welsh pack as they totally out muscled us and controlled tempo and well Roberts was superb.

As for Ireland nothing went right for us today, mostly because Wales had pressure on us constantly, and we gave up what I'd consider 2 awful soft tries. The change at 10 could've been made alot sooner too.
On a side note I single out Rory Best who I thought again had a fine game today and was a vital player through the tournament. He had a crocked shoulder and today again was still 1 of our better players. And also DOC who played despite learning about the death of his grandmother last night (Irish time) or this morning (NZ time) and did battle well. (Hence reason for his black arm band).
But hope now we really move on and start a new generation.
Introduce youngsters like Sherry, Dom Ryan, Ruddock and a few more. Let likes of D'Arcy, DOC and older players go.
Back Murray and Sexton at half-back and use ROG and Reddan in an emergency only until we have more youngsters up to this level. (Madigan, Keatley etc)

Hope Wales can go on now and really have a good cut off this tournament. Again Congrats Wales.

Sensational display from Wales. Ireland's limited game was exposed by a young, talented and very well-coached team. Another performance like that and they'll be in their first WC final.

Just watched Wales second try. D'arcy I think shoved O'Gara out the way and he walked away leaving space and no cover.

To be honest I though ROG had a shocker, which is a shame in what could be his last Ireland game.

i gotta wear my Ospreys jersey tomorrow cuz this was an amazing performance by Wales.

i have to go to sleep now. good night and good game for everybody.

Well done Wales. sorry to see the irish going home.can't understand why the irish didn't take the points on offer in the first half.

i can't belive this.:)
we did the exact same thing vs eng when we conceded an early try & felt we had to chase it..stupid stupid stupid! it could have been 10-9 @ half time though not sure any of this would have made a diffrence!:(

Who ever the semi is against, Wales have put in a benchmark performance today, which means the French or English will need to up their game...

Well done to the Welsh... great show of Northern Hemisphere Rugby...

jesus who bet all that v money on wales??

Oi, there is something fishy here.

I place my hand on my Saltaire and swear that I checked those betting things at around the 60 minute mark, and there wasn't any bet of that magnitude there, Olly had the highest.

I call shananigans!

Well done to Wales. Ireland may have been poor but Wales were absolutely brilliant and you can't take anything away from their performance. All this talk of experience for Ireland did not come true and it was Wales who looked like the team that has been playing together for years.

hard luck Ireland, you had a great tournament, but unfortunately, that's the nature of knock out rugby

... Wales are looking quite daunting a prospect - I think most teams would have trouble beating them at the moment

Well there goes my vcash lol

Lets be honest here, Ireland never changed overnight. Australia didn't have a scrum and didn't have a Pocock, which negated their backs. Italy were average and lost Castro early. That was also the only game where our backs shined against a non-minnow. We definitely need a new backs coach. Overall, we never actually played a complete team till Wales today who had everything. Fitness, physicality, superiority at the breakdown and scrum, and superiority in the backs. Lets call this another lucky day because if we did make the final, the Boks or ABs would've killed us.

Well done Wales, i can only see your team as true contenders to contest a SH side in the final. Good luck!

Apparently Wayne Rooney's Dad was browsing the forum.....

(Although I won 200 on it :D )

Some might not want to accept this but well it is on the money.
