RWC: England - Scotland (01-10-2011, 20:30)

Has anyone seen that Armitage may be cited for tackle on Paterson. I would have to see it again, can't really remember much intent to be honest.

Didn't notice anything in the match - was it high, or a tip tackle, or no arms?

Slightly high i think. It was when Paterson flicked it out wide and Tuilagi just got hold of Ansbro on the wing

Watching highlights on itv+1 now so we will have another look

edit: either i missed it or they didnt show it on highlights

4 passes from Wilko? Perhaps thats because he got served rubbish from the scrum half if he got it at all. How many times did he receive the ball and more importantly how much of it was decent and not in his own 22 or a yard above his head or passed to him after Youngs waited kindly for the entire scot team to organise it's defence. This 'Quins fan' said earlier(having just got back from our 5th win in a row) Youngs is a pressure game choker. He was useless against Ireland in the 6N and got a yellow card for a petulant school boy penalty in Cardiff in August. I may be a Quins fan but Wigglesworth shows more maturity to me. Of course had Danny Care been fit......!

The only thing Wilkinson has done to wear that shirt is being Johnny Wilkinson. England has improved a lot in the last year and a half with Flood in the squad. The World Cup pool games have been a step back; the name just doesn't win games.

I remember it.

Wasn't that bad. Thought it was a penalty if the ref saw it but not much more.

If there's a ban it'll be 2 weeks top. Given that's him out till the final hee'' probably get away with one week ban.

Youngs was not great, but I do not see how he is a choker. He was smart enough to take a quick tap against Argentina and chased the game when he came on. Forgive my memory but we looked a better side with him in at scrum-half against Argentina. Wrigglesworth is steady but not a game changer,

Scotland played with serious intent at the scrum and break down spoiling what chance of quick ball we had. Sorry but Youngs is better than Wrigglesworth from what I have seen of both.

Youngs came on fresh at 65 minutes and took a quick tap to beat a slow aging Argentinian defence.

Wigglesworth hasn't set the world on fire but I thought Youngs was a liability today. Ponderous and dithering. Wiggs may not always make the right decisions, but at least he made decisions.

Youngs is obviously the more talented scrumhalf and he should start every match for England in this RWC he is the key to our succes, but he has to play well. Today he didn't no big disaster we still won the game.

The wrong decision will get you killed in the knock out stages, make the wong decision against the AB's and give them 7 points.

Youngs just needs to step up again. He had a bad game but for the most part made the right decision even if the the execution of it was some what lacking.

if I were France in the QF I would be very happy to see Wigglesworth starting ahead of Youngs

also where's Aout now? seems to have disappeared after his pre-tournament ass licking of JW

After seeing todays games, I am glad it's France starting against England :D

He deserved to start for England, he played well all season for Toulon and put in some good performances off the bench in the 6nations. This RWC he hasen´t played very well(Thought I'd highlight that as otherwise Ill get flamed) but to say all he has done is be Jonny Wilkinson is a stupid statement IMO. This match he wasen't helped by a woefull (suprisingly) B.Youngs. I'm not sure who I'd go for against France yet. Wilkinson could play well with an onfire Youngs but so could Flood.

People are really emphasising the fact that Wilko was starting because he is Wilko. Thats pretty stupid. He got the same opportunity that Flood did in the Warm-ups and just performed better. He also performed better after the 6 nations for his club team than Flood did for Tigers. Keep in mind selection is also done on the training field. For all we know, Flood could be messing up moves, dropping balls and kicking woefully all day long. However, I do beleive that now Flood deserves his chance, Wilkinson has not been playing well and thats the end of it really. Form will dictate the selection as it will the results.

I respectfully disagree. Giving a quick inside ball to a forward rather than spinning wide is preferable to dithering, trying to run backwards, getting isolated and turning the ball over, or taking so long to decide what to do, you throw a telegraphed intercepted pass. Watch the game again.....

I am not saying Youngs had a great game mate. That I would pick him over Wrigglesworth still.

Fair enough. But we have seen that from Youngs time and again. He was a sensation against Australia for 'that try' but to be fair hasn't done a lot since. He was also poor in the Premiership Final. Come the pressure games I'm just not convinced. He's a confidence player and seems to struggle when his team is on the back foot.

Still, we could argue all night! Wiggs isn't world class I agree. The worrying issue is that England are short of a top 9.
