RWC: England - Scotland (01-10-2011, 20:30)

If it was any other player than de Luca, I would have had money on scoring from there, and any the miraculously unlikely event he didn't, we had more players closer than England, as well as the advantage of the English players having to go around the ruck to enter the gate.

Either way, point is I am disputing that we never threatened to score, if whilst watching that you were confident at every stage that an English player would make the tackle, from behind less than two meters from the try-line, well then you are a psychic or extremely overestimate the abilities of your players. ;)

It was Wilko, with deluca bending over to pick a ball up. You're bound to get tackled because you are in a weak position. But doesn't matter :p.

But there is one point that does for me.

Were seriously not in the slightest concerned, given the score at that time, that we wouldn't score from that position?

Just so I know where to arrange you in my catalogue of English people, either deranged, deluded or damaged. ;)

All of the last 3.

On Armitage looks like he backed out of the hit, and put his arms up. Fool!

Yup - To me it looks like he was going to tackle, realised the ball was getting shipped on and in the process on pulling out ended up shoulder barging him in the face

Probably does deserve the ban he got

There is an alternative option, which is trusting from experience that Scotland would find a way to fail to score, what with the unedifying effect the white line has on their gray matter.

Which would be true. I know its what I was thinking.

Bit harsh on Gray isn't it? Thought he had quite a good game:). He was closest to scoring I thought. Wrt to Scotland though, there was a quote once from a chess player which I think applies to all team sports. "The hardest thing in any game is winning the won game". England have the knack of playing absolutely crapulently and still winning. Scotland still do not know how to win when the game is there for the taking. Having said that, they are in a far better place than they were a few years back. Robinson has done a good job, I reckon.
