RWC: Ireland - Italy (02-10-2011, 20:30)

If Best is injured that's a catastrophe as far as I'm concerned. He's been so key for Ireland in this World Cup. Cronin is good but I don't think he's nearly as good as Best.

Here is a question on the Hooker front.

When is Richardt Strauss Irish qualified?

Maybe I'm going nuts, but I thought it was this month or next...

Dammit! Just checked

He is in the second of a three-year deal with Leinster, at the end of which he will become qualified to play for Ireland.

Arrived Nov 2009. So end-Nov 2010 is 1 yr, end-Nov 2011 is 2 years and end-Nov 2012 is 3yrs.

So he is a year and a month away. Not the month I had thought.

At the end of his contract in May 2012 and well interesting question is with Cronin on the books will one get frustrated at being reserve for club and possibly look elsewhere.

I think it was Madness for Sean Cronin and Fionn Carr to go to Leinster, and equally mad for Ian Keatly to go to Munster. The IRFU should have kept the players in the West and gradually improved the overall standard at Connacht.
