Scotland vs Italy - 20/08/2011 - RWC Warm Up

Means it'll be on the BBC website for those in the UK (or with a UK proxy, I believe?)

Yaaaasss, Scotland winning 10-0

My means of watching the game though, are of such great quality, that my interweb is too slow to handle it

This nae being able to edit thing is going to be a hassle in the world cup, I think I missed the explanations as to why it cannot be fixed?

Anyways, Scotland winning 23-12

Dickinson and Blair tries for the Scots, Benvenuti and Semenzato for Italy

Missed the game but just saw Benvenuti's try - wow, what a try! Superb offloading there from the Italians!

Just watched the game properly

That Benvenuti try was awesome, that's the stuff I'll be happy to watch Scotland conceding to (though hopefully not to often)

Overall, I felt we pretty much dominated, and apart from when it was 13-12, we looked comfortable for the win, even attempted some flair play... Which obviously didn't work out. Evans, Hines, Dickinson, Vernon and Lamont R had decent games, was disappointed with Danielli's contribution, especially considering that Walker got injured and looks set to miss out.

We did okay in the scrims considering the line-ups, we didn't control our line-outs in the Italian 22, so lost out on a few opportunities, but otherwise we had some steals and lost some.

Our tackling in these warm-ups has been pretty good, and if the various stats I have looked at are right, we have only miss 5 in these two games. Suffered a few turn-overs though, however our retention got a little better as the game went on, but suffered a little as we became more adventurous with the subs.

Speaking of the subs, Cusiter got a few minutes, but looked a little off pace, hopefully the rumors are true and we will have another warm-up in Aus.

Whats that, 3 wins in a row now? World Cup here we come B)

Gutted for nikki walker was looking really sharp and dangerous with ball in hand

My bad they faced Ireland a fortnight ago.

Well, in response to your post.

Whaaaaat? We turned down several kickable penalties in search of tries, fairly well dominated play including possesion and territory.

The main problem why the nwin was so narrow is because we eschewed those penalties, if we had taken them then we would have lead and not have to play 'catch-up' (as it really was only one score away), which would have left the players more confident, they just seemed frantic at times, so much so that we never got enough players to the rucks, because they were all thinking of what they are going to do with the ball next, rather than protecting.

In short, I disagree ;)

I just got to wee this game, and I must say that the Italian scrum was pure beauty.

Nae disagreeing, Italy scrummed well, but Castro dropped his bind three times, and against a player of the calibre of Dickinson, that must be worrying for the Italian coaching staff

Didn't see the game, but from what I've heard the Scots got shoved all over the place by the Italian scrum, don;t think Mallet and co will be too worried

Aye, they won the scrums no doubt, but my point is that a less lenient ref may have penalised Castro, and that Dickinson is FAR from the best scrummager Italy will face.

Also don't know why Castro was so angry, seemed like he wanted to have a go at every player in the Scottish pack, in a very boisterous mood

Ya, I agree with that, he was looking for a fight for sometime.

Scotland played very well, and if we can continue to preform like this I can only see us getting better.
