Cheers George Clancy, really nice to see a scrum going backwards repeatedly and getting away from its 22 having conceded 0 points.

I
HATE
PARISSE.

His decisions, his leadership, his ****ing flick pass, and chip kick.

STOP doing bu****it and start playing like a ****ing juggernaut 8 man!

God finally!

Zanni is not from this planet, most underrated Italian player!

I love Zanni. Whenever people say Munster need to sign a decent Flanker my first word is Zanni.

Madflyhalf - I think alot of people rate him very highly.

Glad that USA manager to force them to keep going the full 80 minutes, that will only help Ireland.

Rihanna's hot.

Yeah, but sometimes many people underlines Parisse's performances, forgetting all the obscure work made by Zanni that makes possible to Parisse to run quite loose to the rucks.
I hope he will be our next captain!

Another rising star (well, he's already 25 but has only few caps) is Derbyshire.
We need him to start and play for 60-65 minutes, because Mauro Bergamasco is not up to this level, no more.
Barbieri as backup.

I have again concerns on our lineout... I think USA are quite good (EOS hands on it for sure), but we really struggled today, and it's not a good signal for Ireland match!

I was pretty confused about that myself.

I thought that Clancy should have given a penalty try rather than send Louis Stanfill to the bin.

No I think he was right: there have been 3 or 4 different fouls at scrumtime spread in a few minutes, the last one was made by the blindside flanker who played the ball still in the scrum.
Correct yellow, absolutely not penalty try, we were miles away and we weren't get forward.

I know Clancy was quite good today (except for some guys arguing over the scrum right now) but does anyone else think it's questionable to have an Irish Ref for a an Italy match that Ireland have a big interest in?

Professional referees don't associate with any team. It's hard to grasp dropping support for every team you have ever supported, but this (from Mark Lawrence's website) sums it up nicely:

My philosophy is that refereeing is not a popularity contest, it is a test of integrity honesty and having the guts to make the right decision at the right time, REGARDLESS

Yes, questionable, but I have faith in some refs, Clancy is one of them (Bryce Lawrence is NOT), and today he was good also to me.
Even though Parisse's try came from a forward pass (IMO), but who cares!

He's been good :D

Wouldn't refereeing assignments be done before the start of the tournament, so that Clancy had already been assigned to this match before it was determined that Ireland would have a big interest in it?

Even if ireland lost to Australia this would be even more so the case as it would be Ireland and Italy on virtually even points going into the last game.

Ireland vs Italy was always going to be a big match for both teams. Second seed vs thirds seed.

TNT88....Nigel Owens twitters or tweets or twitterses with members of the Welsh rugby team. I agree and I've never seen any ref acting like thre's a conflict of interest in a match like this before, I just saying that it's a bit strange.

USA and its 80 000 players proved a lot in this World Cup. They just proved that if they had the same advantages as Scotland or Italy, they could beat them very soon. USA and Canada badly need to create a professional league and badly need to play the best nations 4 or 5 times a year. To do that, the tour system must end.

Clever is such a hilarious guy on the field. Italy didn't necessarily destroy the US, but they did dominate them especially up front.

Personally I think we need to get these unreliable biased views of refs out of our heads. I know you are not saying he was biased or anything but referees have a job to do and they do it to their up most ability regardless of who is playing. For arguments sake I don't think we should have refs officiating their own nation but I have no problem with them reffing any other game. No matter what the circumstances are.
