The French press started the Schmidt rumours... My guess is you'll be stuck with Lancaster, if he was going to go we'd have surely heard of his "resignation" by now with some huge undisclosed payoff!

What infuriates me about the RFU is they are seemingly incapable of identifying the top coaches unless they have them literally rubbed in their faces

They've only identified Cheika at this point in time because he just beat us and got named Coach of the year or something.
Likewise Schmidt - he's been a top coach much longer than his duration with Ireland
Nick Mallet last time was shortlisted presumably because he was 'within view' whilst working with Italy.

I have zero confidence that this process starts - as it should - with a comprehensive list of all the top rugby coaches out there who could do a good job with us and then gradually working through them methodically and whittling it down.

Instead, we get this "who's beat us recently" approach to working out who to select and it really is a crap approach.

Maybe but recent flurry of reports is suggesting that RFU are set upon shuffling Lancaster to another position within the RFU but replacing him within his current role.
