Aviva Premiership Round 8

Glad I didn't bother with Sarries v Wasps. That drive from Vettel was awesome.

Finishing 3rd when starting last... That is impressive.

Saracens back in the lead now. Still 1 man down due to Hargreaves' yellow card.

Terrible call by the TMO - wasn't foul play at all, Hargreaves just went down.

That was horrible. Hargreaves went into the contact head first, Haskell couldn't get his arms around him... Not a high tackle but low contact by AH. Haskell and Wasps very unlucky there. Hargreaves off injured though.

Foul play call by the AR, but the ref calls it and judges it as incidental contact. Charlie Hodgson with another penalty for Sarries, 23-17 now.

Utterly pathetic to ping Haskell.

In other news, how unbelievably average is Tomkins?

It was indeed a good drive from a German in the best car in Formula 1 (takes you back a few years that one!) but you should have watched the race on the internet and the match on tv as it was probably the best of the weekend!!

High class refereeing and only the TMO let the team down with that appalling decision on Haskell's legitmate tackle.....

Tomkins is not showing a lot to prove worthy of a place in the team and is a long way from being a contender for England......is he being partly financed by the RFU like some other failed converts?

Bugger that, it was the best GP of the season.

Boom C'mon London Welsh!

Scott's 70 yard run was amazing. Snatched victory at the end.

No arguments there but would have been even better had the conspiracy theory that Vettell deliberately run out of fuel in Final Qually to do what he did had not got an air of credence....................................

PS sorry great win for Welsh and shame it was not aired to watch........................

Wheeeeyyyyy, if you ignore the fact that Neil Briggs left last season that's an all Sale front row.
Take that society!

Ross Harrison is going to be some player though.

Well... that team would get butchered by pretty much every tier 1 side...

This isn't an actual Lions side they want to put out, it's basically their side of the week using B&I players that aren't gonna tour.

H'es been impressive? Quite an achievement when Buckley is the other prop.

Buckley is 32 now by the way, any chance of a fresh tighthead possibly signing next season?

Also what have London Welsh done to their scrum? People were saying it would be a weakness before the season, but I saw them win one against the head against Bath who had Paul James who is a great scrummager.

Finally, watching the Rugby Club. Stuart Barnes makes no sense. He said he wanted Simpson-Daniel for the Lions, but Tom Biggs for England. Surely if he thought Simpson-Daniel should sign for the Lions then he would be better than Biggs for England.

People were saying for ages that one of MJ's biggest fault was his complete faith in the old, past-it brigade.

I think a lot of other people have taken that to mean that it's bad to play older players full-stop. It isn't if they are the form players (I'd be tempted to even pick Easter). Lancaster probably feels he'll be hounded for picking people who are 30+.

It's a shame because even if he doesn't make the 2015 WC (but I think he will...), JSD would be a great asset for the next few Six Nations. That's the beauty of the Lions though - it doesn't matter about developing players. Take that away, and JSD has to be a frontrunner. I just hope Gatland sees past international players.
